That’s the funny thing. I couldn’t give one massive rat FUCK about what he thinks he’s worth or whether his sitting out was strategically smart for him. I’m not paying a RB one puff away from a suspension and a dude with a propensity to quit on his team EIGHTEEN MILLION DOLLARS a year.
If they had cut him after year 1, he would have made less than the tag. The Steelers deal was bogus. They didn't fully guarantee anything, which is why it was rejected. Honestly, the worst thing that can happen is all the good free agents getting paid and the Jets rolling into the season with $50M in cap space. Cap space doesnt score touchdowns.
I'd like to see the franchise take all the cap for the next 5 decades and repay the fan base for the last 50 years
Defenses having to sell out to stop bell in and of itself is making an impact and gives sam better looks. whether it’s man on the outside, opening the seam for Herndon or forcing personnel mismatches making the d respect one player is huge for Sam, which is the only thing that matters.
I voted "yes" simply because Bell is something we've never had before ... an ELITE talent. The guy is a dynamic runner & receiver, someone who will give D- coordinators fits. We've taken the road less traveled since I can remember... its time we make a move to grab a guy that will immediately improve this offense at 2 positions of need. We can't settle for "potential" & mediocrity , we've been doing that for years... it's time to be bold and go get a difference maker .
Curtis Martin was an elite talent. Furthermore, Martin was, and is, a far better ambassador to the game of football than Bell will ever be.
This team needs talent and he’s about as good it gets in this league as far as an all around back It’s really that simple to me Sick of dissecting every potential move because of this or that...we need more good football players period
I think that’s a pretty fair assessment. I’ve been pretty forthcoming with my fears because....you know....Jets....but at the end of the day he’s a generational talent and would make for an incredibly exciting season. I’m just readying myself for ultimate disappointment. Oh geez just be great for us.
5-11, 5-11, 4-12, no playoffs in almost a decade. What have they got to lose? Players like this don't hit the open market often.
signing him will be a clear SOJ moment.... Even those who “want him” know he’s a santonio Holmes waiting to happen And something we will grit our teeth at for years- years.... I think it’s inevitable tho... he will have a nice 6 game run..... but Injury, losing, media, suspension and arrest thereafter will be the ugly end Mark it down
Decent OL will boost any RB running behind them. Once-in-a-lifetime RB like Barry Sanders might be necessary to get a decent ground production out of the current Jets OL. Le'Veon Bell might be a good RB, but he ain't half the RB that Barry was. I'd say fix the fucking OL first and foremost. We can worry about RB once the CS is done unfucking the OL.
If they cut him after year one, he would have received $33 million total and would have been free to sign another big contract with anyone he chose. If he suffered a catastrophic injury, he would have received $45 million.
As long as they're able to sign a pass rusher and interior lineman first, sure. Monumental upgrade on what they already have, but it's third at best on my list of current needs Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
He probably figures he has at least 2 contracts left in him. Playing behind this OL will not help that cause, and he is a business man after all.
I don't see a patient gap finding runner being very effective behind this O-line. Good, probably. Worth the expense, doubtful. Unless the blocking upfront radically improves, I'd give him a pass.
