I feel pretty good about a 9-10 start. Newburgh has cancelled too, pretty sure most of the Hudson valley has. Hopefully your district plays this right in the morning
the radar looks good right now,,,,If any of the moisture heads farther North = none of the models had that spreading that far North at this time at least I don't believe so ,here take a look https://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=DIX&product=NCR&overlay=11101111&loop
HAPPY 210th BIRTHDAY ABRAHAM LINCOLN! Nothing happening yet, supposedly starting up around 3 a.m. here, but if definitely feels and smells like snow out there. It's been smelling like snow all day. If it does ice up really bad, our lights are definitely going. Our lights go out on a sunny day to be clear (Word Play). We bought a generator off a friend of the old man's for $300 clams a few months ago. We won't freeze to death, but I'm sure we'll somehow manage to die of carbon monoxide poisoning instead. Stay safe and warm everyone!
Fjay or one of you guys who knows BETTER then me,,,,I could be wrong but it looks like a LOW is trying its best to form right near our buddy Jay. Fjay can you see this as its much more apparent on the radar loop then it is on the still picture but IF this happened it could be a BIG game changer---> thoughts https://weather.com/weather/radar/interactive/l/USNC0479:1:US
If that gets organized it would up the snow totals I would think. Counter clockwise rotation would push cold air in ,slow down if not stop the turnover to rain. Something to watch for sure
Started here in north Dutchess, covering fast. Should be a solid 5 hrs of snow and then we watch and see from there
Problem...and correct me if wrong...did a quick look..miller b storm. Yuck. The first low is the primary and while the low off the coast is getting ready for the handoff...too late for all snow event. STORMS LIKE THIS ONE...make me a little happy I am semi retired from this. While Miller b's have produced some biggies in the past...they suck to forecast. Ice line looks to takeover everyone from South to north by afternoon. Will say this. .holy Batman...the radar...it is snowing awfully hard in NYC I'm guessing....wow!
It turned into freezing rain/sleet an hour ago in central Nassau, a few hours earlier than expected. That should keep accumulations lower before it all washed away anyway, which of course makes me happy.
Heads up guys,,,,Fjay and others looks as if things get interesting from Feb 16th to Feb 24th-------> oh my
lol Wow, it sucks out there. I'm talking really sucks. I almost fell on my ass walking my dog. It started much later than they said, we have about an inch and a half right now but the quality of it is terrible. First snow, then heavy wet snoow and now a dangerous mix. Don't be an idiot and go out for a gallon of milk or some shit and head for home from work as early as you can. Safe travels everyone. EDIT: (& update): I have no idea what snoow is but I'm leaving it. It is now sleeting.
Same here. Turned about an hour ago. A head of schedule. Hopefully it leaves earlier than expected too
