IMO the term adjustment was foreign to Bowles and his merry band of highly incompetent Coaches. In the annals of Jets history, we shall never find the words "Bowles and adjustment" used in the same sentence.
He did not adjust his philosophy, or game plan, or formations, or second half moves, not to our player strengths nor to our opponent weakness and strengths.
Hard to judge how good or bad our talent really is, since they were never coached up to their strengths. They just needed to play within his system, irrespective of inefficiency or ineffectiveness.
I really like this move, reduce Long salary and if acceptable bring him back as a Guard. He can be a starter and could then transition to a solid BU if the price is right.

I read or heard somewhere the Jets were in the top 10 in offensive line spending. If that’s true, that’s terrible considering they are getting bottom 5 production out of them. But I think they are mostly overpaid. Winters and Beachum also receive good salaries despite being meh. The only thing they did right is not let up 50 sacks and get Darnold killed out there.

You have to pay them more when you don't draft them.

Apparently, after he signed his contract termination papers, he went to hand them back to Maccagnan but somehow threw them over his head.

I think he is a serviceable guard, but not great. I'd much rather have him on as the 6/7th olineman on the team, providing depth at both guard and center. Can he start for us? Yes. Can we do better if we want to win? I sure hope so.

Glowinski would be great the Colts announced a contract extension a week or so ago.

That being said rebuilding the line starts with Praedis or Morse. Land one of those two and things are looking a lot better.

Another roster spot to fill. As far as I am aware, we have a quarterback and a punter for 2019.

I hope they bring him back at a reduced rate. I thought he was effective at guard. Even at center, Bowles played him with an injured hand hampering his ability to snap.

I will say. Cutting him is a sign that Maccagnan is owning up to his mistakes.

well according to another forum - here's the current OL roster
    68 - Kelvin Beachum 6"3" 303 SMU (T)
    72 - Brandon Shell 6'5" 325 South Carolina (2018 Injured Reserve)
    67 - Brian Winters 6'4" 320 Kent State (G)
    79 - Brent Qvale 6'7 315 Nebraska (G/T) (UNRESTRICTED FA)
    78 - Jonotthan Harrison 6"4" 300 Florida (C/G) (UNRESTRICTED FA)
    70 - Dakota Dozier 6'4" 313 Furman (C/G/T) (UNRESTRICTED FA)
    69 - Benjamin Braden 6'6" 335 Michigan (G/T) (Exclusive Rights FA)
    65 - Eric Smith 6'4" 308 Virginia (T)
    71 - Ben Ijalana 6'4" 322 Villanova (T/G) (2018 Injured Reserve) (UNRESTRICTED FA)
    77 - James Carpenter 6'5 321 Alabama (G) (2018 Injured Reserve) (UNRESTRICTED FA)
    76 - Dieugot Joseph 6'6" 300 FIU (OT) (Reserve/Future Contract)
    64 - Jon Toth 6'5" 310 Kentucky (C) (Reserve/Future Contract)
    61 - Spencer Long 6'5" 318 Nebraska (C/G) *** RELEASED ***

We have a lot of holes to fill. This does not bode well for the 2019 season

I can see him coming right back, they probably did this to avoid the roster bonus.

He is a reserve/depth lineman at best.

Yeah, I am a little surprised a lot of the message board wants to bring him back as guard. He was better there than at center, but that's not saying much at all. My vote would be to move on without Long or career scrub Dozier. Yes, it will cost more, but that is where you should invest, in addition to the draft. But since Maccagnan refuses to draft on the OL, Long, Dozier and Winters will be struggling again next year at G for the jets.

If he doesn't, can we say he's Long gone?

Seriously, Sam? You don't even know that you did it right this time by writing a headline that speaks to the future as opposed to one that referred to the past.

There's a guy here who "weepz" for you children.
