I don’t want respect, I want a Stanley Cup. Don’t care what anyone else thinks about Islanders. JT is a thing of the past, he’s happy in Toronto and it was not his fault he was put in a position where he saw the team struggling to get to next level and chose to leave. I hated Capuano from time he was with Soundtigers, Snow did nothing for this team and Weight didn’t help change things either. If I were in JT shoes I would have left as well, team is doing well becaue of Trotz and Lous addition to the team. I’m sure Lou will bring in key pieces to set this team up for continued success. Let’s keep enjoying the ride and hope for it to continue. Yes, Yes, Yes!!
I am looking so forward to hockey returning at the end of this week,,,,,,Hopefully this team gets right back to its winning ways and with any luck by the end of next week they make a deal or 2 that solidifies this roster to make a legit run !
First game back is a huge challenge vs TB on Friday night. TB is the best team in the league and the Isles beat them 5-1 the last time so you know they are going to be motivated for a payback. How many teams in the league can say they beat the Lighting in regulation not to mention give them a 5-1 beat down. Isles will need to be at their best for 60 minutes in this one.
These days I've mostly kept to a "following one sport at a time" policy, \ (barring post-season / unexpected success exclusions) especially considering it takes more effort for me to follow my other teams these days (there's no local broadcasts for me, and I dont want to pay for multiple tv packages).... what better time than post JETS / post all-star break, first place Islanders for motivation... amazing what a difference a coach in certain sports can do
Back to back games Friday / Saturday = Lightning then Kings --> I hope for a good start out of the gate and yes Stinky what difference coaching makes
btw..... remember when the 8th seed Isles won that one game in Tampa (who won the cup that year).....My Aunt was visiting us (well, my parents) for easter, and during dinner we mentioned the series (her son is a hockey fanatic) and I said I'll get tickets tomorrow if you agree to drive (and buy beer.. its 3 hours away) Got tickets upper level but on the rail Well..... I'm 1-0 in road playoff games. (and really fucking loud in them)..... looking forward to rd 2
It’s going to be a real interesting deadline. We have the ammo to get one of the big UFA’s, I’m just not sure I want to see us mortgage the future for a potential rental. I have no issues seeing what our first and second can get us.
Tampa losing last night to Pit 4-2 will have them in a bad mood on Friday. With a game played they will have shaken off the rust while the Isles haven't played in 9 days. Hoping for the best but expect a regulation loss here.
my feelings exactly,,,but lets see how our guys come out. Some good articles out there about guys to possibly trade for other than the big name Taresanko -Duchene-Stone---> how about Toffoli or Dzingle or Athanasiou ??? intriguing but the other name who I like a lot and he is 30 but would bring a lot to the table is Wayne Simmonds
