I think that's the plan and it just might be good one, but I wonder what's gonna happen the first time one of the other units gets out coached. t's the second quarter at a game in Baltimore and Gregg Williams' gameplan to blitz a lot just ain't working. It's 17-3 already and Baltimore is moving the ball at will with a short passing game that makes the blitzing irrelevant. Typically a HC would step in and take control. Does that happen under this structure? Does Williams have any respect for Gase when Gase tells him his gameplan is shit at halftime? I do not know..
But EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion even if the facts don’t fit the situation or the facts aren’t even known. IF Loggains was a true OC and putting in his scheme, designing the offense and calling plays? The person primarily responsible for developing Sam? Awful hire. But from everything we’ve heard, he’s going to be doing none of that. He’s not going to have the role he had in Chicago and if you’re going to blame him for Miami then don’t you REALLY have to blame Gase who was his boss? And it’s funny how we’ve created the narrative that he’s just a “yes” man, Gase’s lap dog and his best bud with no other purpose other than to fetch Gase coffee. Hired just for shits and giggles. Gase has said himself he wants an OC that he can bounce ideas off of, to watch for things he’s missing. Help run practices. Be another set of eyes on the product. Some guys can coach, some guys can analyze. No one here knows anything about Loggains analytical skills, you know, other than he sucks at everything. But somehow this has devolved into a headline that Loggains will make Darnold worse. Like I’ve said all along, don’t love the hire but (i) all the pie in the sky idealistic candidate names being thrown out might not have wanted to come here and/or have no connection to Gase and (ii) if I’m giving Gase the benefit of the doubt that he knows more about what he needs than a few arm chair GM/HCs of TGG, I suggest we let it play out. But by all means, feel free to complain. It’s what this board is for. Not defending the hire. Just be fair.
I should have copyrighted my Patton Oswalt comparison from weeks ago. Already seen it a few times on Twitter.
Gase went 7-9 with Tannehill and Osweiler last year. If we go 5-11, either Darnold got hurt, or he's a bust and we're totally screwed.
They signed Quincy. Whether that is included in the 100m I don't know, but it will count against our cap total.
Overreacting. We already know the OC here wouldn’t be calling plays or drawing up gameplans (hence a guy like loggains and not Monken). Realistically gase has him help run practices and research things of interest. I bet 90% of us didn’t even know loggains existed until we hired gase. Which lends to the type of role he has. He’s invisible and carries out administrative things for gase.
You could have tried the copyright route. Or you could have searched for "Patton Oswalt Loggains" and seen the tweets from December of 2017. Both good options.
We didn't know Loggains because we aren't Bears or Dolphins fans. Those fanbases knew him very well and were both glad to see him go.
