Isles blitzed on the shootout. Oh well. I predict that the Isles will be undefeated for the rest of January.
3 points, and for it to stay that way you have to root for Pajama Boy's team to beat the Caps tomorrow in regulation. Sure you want to do that?
Yes. Leafs don't play in the Metro so for tonight GO LEAFS GO. It will be the same next season with NFL. As a Jets fan I don't like the Giants but I want them to win 3 games next year vs the Pats, Bills, Dolphins since the AFCE plays the NFCE. With the Isles I will gladly take the point as you can't win them all. First place going into the break, nobody could have predicted that especially with the loss of Mr. Pajama.
With our complete lack of power play and our very defensive style we can't be taking bad penalties like last night. I also saw Eberly and Barzal doing a bit too much floating in the defensive zone for my liking. A very strong Game from the defense over all, Toews looks like he may be one of our best out there already. The Goal tending kept us in a game we did not deserve a point out of, but good teams get points on bad nights and this was one of those. First place at the break has to feel good for the guys, now get some rest after that brutal post Christmas round of games and come back ready to make a run!
As much as I hate the freaking Leaves, I'm with you here, its about the division first and foremost now.
I'd give more credit to the Capitals being in a funk and their legs giving out on them mid-way through the 2nd in a back to back road game, but yes, Leafs won.
I was surprised they played Holtby last night. Back to back roadies, after giving up a touchdown the previous night. 13
The last couple of months of the season are going to be very interesting for everyone. Pretty much every team will be averaging one game every two days for nine weeks starting February 1st. There will be very few practices (Trotz commented on that yesterday), and tired legs, especially for older players, will be a real issue. The Islanders are actually one of the older teams in the league, and Columbus is one of the youngest, so hopefully that will not end up being important.
Yeah, I was surprised they played Ovechkin and Holtby. Showed how desperate they were for a win and still could not deliver. I made that exact comment to my cousin yesterday. So true. Yeah, I am just frustrated with the team and felt they lost more than the Leafs won. I think the Islanders are the real deal though, so they are an additional worry. The Metro has 4 legit teams in the Isles, Caps, Blue Jackets and Pens right now. Though 3 aren't playing like it lately.
The Caps will likely end up like the Rams when they chased out Vermeil because they felt Martz was the real difference maker for them.
There is no argument to this right now. The Isles current success and the Caps current failures makes it look like Ted Leonsis and the Capitals made a terrible mistake. However, every season has rough patches and every Trotz-led Caps season had one too. This feels worse though. Guess we will see in the upcoming months, but letting your Stanley Cup-winning Coach go right after winning the Cup seemed wrong from the start.
