Well Dee Ford probably didn’t do himself any favors tonight. We’ll need to show him where there line of scrimmage is if he ends up here.

Golden Tate should be a target in free agency. He would be a great under-the-radar signing. A team-first guy and a great FOOTBALL player

I can't see a scenario where the Rams resign DE Dante Fowler. He would be a solid/good edge pass rusher for the Jets. I would expect that if he hits free agency, that the Jets will be aggressive to sign him. He will turn 25 years old this upcoming august.

He is by no means an elite DE. Signing him shouldn't stop the Jets from drafting one with their 1st round pick (assuming they don't land Clowney, Ford, or Lawrence as well).

full disclosure - i have not looked at the k. hunt situation at all BUT IF the process unfolds where he is properly punished and gets to be reinstated then the jets should definitely inquire.

agree i think fowler would be a good solid, not spectacular signing for the right price.

Personally I don't want Bell or Brown or any other prima donna.

Also we all need to consider Bell was playing behind a much better line

My only hesitation is because of Jamal's comments and the belief that talent knows talent

Man, I wish I trusted Mac to make good decisions, but I dont

Just looking at the list no one jumps out to me. Pass rushers seem to be a good number and we will probably fill that need there. Offensive line and skill positions does not seem to be many worth going after. I like Tate but between age and what we need I don't think he fits us. Running back like others said. I'd be interested in Hunt as long as between legally and the NFL he does the punishment. I like Bell but age, workload, one strike and he's suspended and what is perceived as a diva personality is not what we need. I'll have to dive deeper but it is hard to find top 5 free agents. Off this list here is my opinion and it drives me nuts I'm putting defense down because we need offense.

    1. Edge Rusher: Lawerence, Clowney, Ford, Flowers, Fowler, Clark. All would be on my list but could only sign one. Lawerence would be my top choice.
    2. Grady Jarrett: This is two fold. Either one to pair him with Williams or two allow us to trade Williams and have a replacement.
    3. Trent Brown: I'd sign him to take him away from New England but I wonder if he is a Solder like player. Looked great in New England because of system and Brady and leaves and doesn't do much.
    4. Paradis: We need a center. Don't like that he's 29 and is coming off an injury. With Pollack as the new oline coach I think he likes bigger players. Paradis might be too small and quick.
    5. Darby, Nelson, Desir: We'll need another cb or two. Not a bad group to choose from but we will probably spend in other areas and get cheaper veterans I think.

These are my 5 but not sold on all. Almost feel like it might be worth throwing money at the edge rusher and then spending on quantity. Bring in more guys on shorter cheaper contracts to fill the roster and keep freedom for future free agent classes. Plus if we are really going to rebuild through the draft it's better than tying up money long term in giving guys big money and not being as hungry. Look at Wilkerson Revis and Trumane Johnson on why we shouldn't go crazy in free agency.

My top targets in free agency:

DE Dante Fowler- This guy would be great in sub packages and would help generate some pass rush.

DE Trey Flowers- I haven't watched a lot of him, but he seems to be a solid player.

MLB CJ Mosley- I salivate at the thought of Williamson, Lee, and Mosley all playing together. He is coming from a great defense. He reminds me of David Harris.

C Matt Paradis- They have to come away with some Oline help. It is a massive and critical need.

RB Tevin Coleman- Underrated RB who would be a great receiving option for Darnold. He and Crowell would form a nice 1-2 punch assuming the Oline gets help.

If any of these dudes make it to free agency, the Jets have to come away with them:
    Demarcus Lawrence
    Frank Clark
    Dee Ford
    Jadeveon Clowney

Question for you and any Jets fan on this board regarding Fowler, how much would you all be willing to offer a guy like that?

  10. 3 year 40M max.And thats overpaying based on their being other suitors.

CJ Mosley is about as unlikely as the 4 guys you posted at the bottom. I also think Tevin Coleman would be a waste of money when you have Elijah McGuire who pretty much does the same thing. McGuire should be the new Powell, and should be the primary receiving target out of the back-field should they not get Bell.

Fowler, he would be a decent 1B pass-rusher, but should not stop the Jets from taking 1 in the first round.

    Absolutely down for Matt Paradis.

I am scared Mac will overpay big time for Fowler, especially after the NFCCG.

I don't agree on McGuire. He seems to have a fumbling problem with limited touches.

Ehhhh I heavily disagree about McGuire. I mean maybe with an improved OL, better plays and better coaching he can be a Coleman type but right now Coleman is a FAR better player. I don't think it's even close. Not saying I'd overpay to get him here but if we can get him on a good deal, I do it and don't even think twice about McGuire. I agree with the rest of the post 100%.

Unrelated... Adam Humphries should be climbing up the priority chart. He's a super dependable receiver that has some nice YAC ability and will probably come at a decent price. He's not a sexy name, but his production is.

You can work on ball security, even so it's 2 fumbles, I think that might be a slight overreaction. McGuire has pretty good hands out of the back-field. He's not a guy you want to give 20 touches a game especially rushing the ball.

The thinking seems to be that he'll command 10+ Million - is that a worthy investment? If they spend that on one above average receiver, do they have enough to afford some of the other critical needs - pass rusher, OL, primo receiver/RB? I'm all about upgrading the "O", and think he'd be a good addition, but not at the expense of some of these other pieces.

I don't think Coleman is all that great at running the football, Coleman is a slightly better, but I think McGuire can improve as well. It's a waste of money to bring in Coleman. Need a RB that can tote the ball and be reliable 20+ times a game. Coleman and McGuire are not those players.

No matter who they sign in free agency they should take a pass rusher if they stay at 3.

I hear ya on being able to work on ball security. Having said that, as long as the price is right, Coleman is the better player and I think he would be a great fit.

Also agree with Fowler and still drafting a pass rusher at 3. Signing Fowler alone does not fix that problem.

  20. Bosa/Allen or trade down & go offense.

I like your idea but the other DE options at 3 dont excite me.
