Guess I'll hop in on the confusion. I've never known which one is accurate, so by all means answer me here. Without a shadow of a doubt OR Without a shout of a doubt ..
Score one for our Kurdish friend. This one actually makes literal sense. Without a doubt is easy to interpret; this says that not only isn't a doubt there, a doubt isn't even close enough to cast a shadow, so it's really without a doubt. Irregardless, I've done a complete 360 about whether this kind of thing is important. It's a doggy dog world out there, and while I used to think we needed to hone in on mistakes like this and nip them in the butt, I've now decided I had another thing coming about them and they don't phase me at all. I'm sure you've been on tenderhooks worrying about my views on this, but I've decided that the different sayings are actually one in the same, and one isn't any better then the other (it's really a mute point anyway). Now, excuse me, my brother in laws and I are going to Starbucks so I can get an expresso - its cold out there! (I doubt I'll see anyone walking around butt naked in whether like this!) Maybe I'll pick up a sandwich and some coldslaw - it will be a nice momento of this thread, and I'm feeling some hunger pains anyway. I've got a card game scheduled for this afternoon, which should be fun, although one of our players is a bit of a card shark. I hope you realize that this post is all tongue-and-cheek and it passes mustard! Maybe I should curve my enthusiasm about it, however.
Anyways. <=== I can't express how much I fucking abhor that. It's right up there with my hatred of the over use, abuse, and misuse of the word like. So anyways, and then anyways, anyways me and my boyfriend, anyways. . . Listen ya dumb bastards, it's ANYWAY. ANYWAY. THERE IS NO S NECESSARY. Yes, it's a word; but I'm constantly assaulted by it. I hate it. Anyways, the Cheats are in the Super Bowl.
"It is what it is" Not grammatically inaccurate I guess, but the worst idiom in modern American English by far
Just got off the phone with an associate of mine who was describing several important "incidences" we need to be aware of. Oy. Anyone know who will be commentating for the the Super Bowl this year?
Can't nobody block me. Or was it nobody can't block block me? To not block or not to block, that is the question.
I says to him and then he says and then I says I says I says to him and then he says so I says to him.
Yeah, it's basically a statement that encourages the status quo. No need to argue against something you don't like, just accept that it is what it is.. When people say that to me, I usually respond with, "And it's not what it's not." Such a useless phrase.
