It's kind of interesting to think about. What if NFL teams just had an offensive coach and a defensive coach and that's it? It's not like there's overlap in the personnel anyway.
Every time I see that stock photo of Loggains, and the seeming unanimous contempt for him from the fans, this image comes to mind... Then you add Gase's resemblance to Niedermeyer... Not to mention, Williams might put a bounty on Loggains the first day of contact drills, just for sh*ts and giggles...
There is no way this shitty organization and that new psycho coach is going to get Williams. We're going to fuck this up just like the Gase hire.
Mike Ditka & Buddy Ryan did it better than anyone else & plenty of fire works. These guys are no light weights in comparison. My expectations are high
Nice job by MAC in targeting and getting William's. Nice to see the FO had a plan and were able to follow through on it. Nice plan by the FO to target not only an offensive HC but to pair him with a targeted DC. It explains why Ruhle, Gase and Monken were their top 3 targets as they likely had them all paired with Williams.
Key 4th down late in the game. Too far for a field goal but not exactly punt territory. Offensive coach wants to go for it and ice the game Defensive coach wants to punt and trust the D to get a stop. What do you do? Btw Bowles and Rex punt.
Gase goes for it. He said it in the interview, he doesn't just want to win, he wants to win by a LOT. He and Peyton would lament after a game when they crushed it "we didn't win by enough".
so this puts Mr Lee if he even is on the team in a predicament as he is NOT the Middle LB in a 4-3 defense
This is actually fantastic for Lee. He's going to go back to what made him good in college: using his speed while more people do the work up front.
I'm wondering with Gase's comments about not sitting out and taking an OC job if the original plan was Rhule HC, Gase OC and Williams DC.
Yes and no, while he is more of a weak side LB, his weakness is still playing the run, if teams decide to run to weakside, he can still be a liability. I’m hoping Luvu can step up and push for the weakside position as he is a more aggressive LB.
Deal appears finalized. Here's an article - https://wfan.radio.com/articles/jets-reach-deal-gregg-williams-become-defensive-coordinator. Very good hire. May have some growing pains in switching to a 4-3, but should be worthwhile.
I read they wanted Monken for OC for Ruhle but William's seems to be the FO favorite. Interesting coaching search targeting a HC, OC and DC rather than just a HC. Which explains their desire to hire Ruhle.
