People have different ways of expressing themselves. Rex's introduction conference was amazing, but that loud mouth shit gets old really quickly, especially if you don't improve as a HC.

People put too much stock into press conferences.

    Are you kidding about Johnson?

He read a prepared speech like he was reciting us 50 shades of Gray.

    MacCagnan barely speaks. Rarely seen.

I get the impression he's hiding out. One of the things I dislike about him.

Gase isn't gonna give entertaining press conferences that's for sure. In that short time he gave me the impression he has it where it counts.

He mentioned making adjustments and ball security things critical to winning football games. He's more substance than fluff.

Kitchens 34, Gase 3. Kitchens continuing to drive in closing minutes.

Not only was it a mistake to have the owner speak so damn much but SNY made the mistake of interviewing Johnson right afterwards and that might have been worse than what went down minutes before------not a good start my friends you would think these guys would be trying to get fans back on board = this did not do it at all

Actually the latter spoke volumes to me.

What he didn't articulate well is they were able to objectively identify weaknesses (due to shit QB and personnel injuries) and knew cramming a cookie cutter game plan into game preparation would be like putting a square through a circle. Doesn't make sense.

They took the unconventional route sacrificing team or personal statistics to get "team wins". This is probably where the player critique comes into play regarding not being able to get personal accolades.

That being said, I would still like to hear why he stopped using Drake.

Edit: By contrast, Bowles' game planning consisted of not looking at film of the back up QB and not having a contingency plan during the game if the original game plan went to shit.

Was listening to NFL opening drive on Sirius this morning. Charlie Weiss was saying one time he threw out the game plan after 9 plays. The front of the play card is the game plan plays and the back of the play card are all of the contingency plays they have but didn't work on during the week.

So Weiss flipped the card over and started calling plays off the cuff (improvising).

The back of Bowles' play card was blank I bet.

Eric Allen such a clown  he's telling Gase how he didn't see Sam in Miami the second meeting down in Miami and he goes "We actually did". Sam was injured after that game wasn't he?

Yes, Johnson is a gifted natural, talented and well spoken speaker. Did you watch his interview with the 2 TV guys after the press conference. He made both look like they had never been in front of a camera. CJ has skills. Did you see him tell them with conviction how excited he was that they got such a great coach and not even crack I just lied like he'll smile. He is very good. I did not expect to be impressed by CJ but I was.

Kim Jones asked about this and CJ said "There is none and won't be a playoff mandate for this team."

Now, I understand he was asked a question, and not saying there is in an introductory presser is fair to Gase, but this continued "no playoff mandate" stance is asinine to me. It does NO one any good.

Just watched the press conference of Gase. The guy reminds me of that movie The New Guy lol. The New York media will jump on this guy also. His introductory speech was Bowlesques. Short on vision and words. I can't believe this guy was the best candidate. Let's pray he coaches better than he projects.

Gase talked about the coaching staff a lot. It’s almost as if he’s concerned.

Honestly, I turned it off after it was over. I had to spend a lot of time with toast masters over the years, so perhaps I'm a bit harsh.

Someone has to tell Sam to just pick this guys brains and avoid eye contact

Darnold s a cool character but the kid could get spoofed by Gase with 2 min to go 4th qtr down 3 to the Pats

This will be interesting...I can see how Gase can intimidate people/ players...OMG OMG OMG

What exactly is the point of a playoff mandate?

Does Adam Gase look to you like a guy who needs extra incentive?

I wouldn't say it's concerning. I think he knows he needs a proper staff around him. Hopefully he is realizes he shouldn't bring Patton Oswalt with him.
