I HATED it on Wednesday. I didn't like it yesterday, but I'm warming up. Hope it works out. That's all we can have.... HOPE.
Even Bill Belichick, Lombardi, Walsh, Shula, Madden and Parcells had losing seasons. It's the best service for Jets fans to give some time and give him a fair chance to succeed.
I'm all for giving Gase a chance. But for every Belichick, Parcells, etc, there are many others who started out as losing coaches and stayed that way.
im surprised its this close. personally i hate the selection, i think the guy will end up wearing out his welcome pretty quickly with the jets especially coming off the love fest that was bowles. i think the asshole media will end up frustrating him to no end and we will end up with another hopefully 2 years of bullshit. please god dont take 4 years to realize it again. i think its an abortion, i think we should have gotten rid of bowles 2 years ago and macc should have been gone with him this year. but 50% of the fanbase on the board says its ok or they are not sure the johnson boys will be ok. me personally i am questioning whether or not it makes sense to continue to waste my time caring about the same old jets. i also am beyond disgusted with the little mehta stunt to tear down mccarthy which i believe was done in concert with the jets so the fans would be a little less infuriated about them hiring another guy. that was just too far for me. and then hearing james jones i believe on hte radio saying that mccarthy wanted to have some say in personnel because he felt he didnt have enough in green bay kind of sealed the fact that the jets are morons who held onto a bad gm who has only drafted 4 nfl players in his tenure and then wouldnt budge on him sharing responsibility with the coach.
That was my initial thoughts too when I heard Gase was hired. I looked more into it though and feel better about the move now. Yep. Can't get excited until he gives fans a reason to be.
Or using an objective metric to evaluate one of the most common complaints fans have of head coaches Either or...
After being thrilled with the Mangini, Rex, and Bowles hirings, I'm taking a wait and see approach with Gase. He was low on my list of preferred candidates and I wasn't pleased when he was the choice. I'll gladly eat crow if he leads the team to the playoffs and hoists the Lombardi Trophy next to Darnold one day.
I hate pulling that to shit on McCarthy. Why don't you bring up the 125-77 that is McCarthy's career? I understand if you want to argue that he is on the decline. I had a good arguement/conversation about it with @King Koopa yesterday. But to simply drop that fact is asinine. McCarthy has been to the playoffs nine times, the Jets entire franchise has only been to the playoffs 13 times. Bringing up the 21-22 is pitiful especially since it is still a better winning record than Gase's entire HC career.
