Jenkins can play DE, still need more pass-rushers on the outside. Preferably ones that can play standing up and with their hand in the dirt

Ya, Toilet was a joke all around. Good coordinator, terrible head coach. I won't miss anything about his tenure.

yea but we already had the hole at one end/edge rusher anyway and that will/should be addressed in free agency or draft. I think they may approach Anderson about dropping weight to play the other end spot like the colts did before they traded him

I don't think Jenkins is big enough to stuff the run playing hand in dirt conventional 4-3 DE.
And we know he isn't much of an edge rusher.
He'd be one of the casualties if we made a full 4-3 switch (and I hope we don't make a full switch).

The aggressiveness that we appreciate in Williams does not come without a price. The Browns were number six in the league in defensive penalties; to be that high there had to be way to many "stupid" penalties. There will definitely be a learning curve for the Jets defense to learn to play the more aggressive style while at the same time reducing the stupid penalties.

They can find a role for him. Hand in the dirt on passing downs, not running downs. You can throw him at SAM too. Nickel and you can find all types of exotic blitzes, should we acquire Greg Williams.

Jenkins is serviceable, nothing more. He's slow but plays hard and keeps grinding. A rotational backup.

I love how the message I hear over and over again from him is effort.

When you have a coach demanding effort and give him a player like Adams as the leader of the defense - the message will be amplified.

If he winds up being the guy I will be very excited to see our defense flying all over the field.

This is a solid hire. Very very solid. He has a ton of passion and attacks the oppositions weaknesses. He actually KNOWS what our oppositions weaknesses will be (unlike Turd and Kacy) I think with Gregg Williams we'll have a much smarter D that will know how to make adjustments instead of just being gashed every game

Gotta change your avatar man, McCarthy's in the past. Maybe to Williams if he is in fact the hire.

Whatever works. Belichick has literally thousands of times turned his back on offensive possessions and is coaching the D that is on the sideline. I would love for Gregg Williams to do so well here that Gase can trust him fully

I don’t think Jenkins fits that role, looked this up on Google.

    4-3 Defensive End Description.

The defensive end's primary role in the 4–3 defense is to get to the quarterback and create pressure. The 4–3 DEs are the smallest of all of the defensive lineman due to their emphasis of speed over strength. They still need to be strong enough to fight their way past offensive tackles, yet quick enough to pursue the running backs on runs to the outside. Ideal 4–3 defensive ends are athletic and agile and their strength is getting up the field quickly and they usually weigh between 265 and 295 pounds

The best 4-3 DE's imo are two way players on the field all 3 downs.
Guys like Bruce Smith, Strahan, they are tough to run at, but still fast enough to get after the QB.
Usually if one of your DE's is a little smaller, he is a burner off the edge.

Jenkins is really neither. i like Jenkins, but just think he is suited to be an edge setting 3-4 OLB.
As 101 said, maybe you can play him in subpackages, but overall he'd be less effective with a switch.

Ah, but that's not at all the same thing. That's the kind of thing you can do if you have great coordinators on both sides of the ball. I want a head coach who has the ability to let either guy take over temporarily while he directs his attention where it's needed most.

Gregg Williams brings fire, passion and douchiness to the defense. Which would be a welcomed addition to a bleh 4 years with Bowles.

Realistically though, he hasn't been that amazing since his infamous stint with New Orleans.

If Morris Claiborne is still on the roster you can still count on at least 2 holding calls per game
