@Rollo Tomassi You're absolutely correct. Made me think of that article last year about how MLB could force the Wilpons to sell the Mets. On topic though, if Gase/Mac/whomever is hiring, brings in excellent coordinators like Williams and Monken, it would really go a long way to easing concerns about Gase.
It'd be like suggesting if someone offered Jerry Jones enough he'd sell the Cowboys. The Johnson's are multibillionaires who have a varied portfolio of investment and charitable interests, but the Jets are their biggest moneymaker. The Jets afford them a seat at social tables that allow them to continue to play in upper-crusty circles. If they didn't own the Jets no one would give a shit about them. And it's not about them needing the money--which they don't.
Didn't Gase help develop 36 year old Peyton Manning in Denver? "No Mark Rhule, you can't pick your own staff.....let us (with our sterling track record) take the reins on this."
I knew the Jets were a cashcow for them, didn't know they were the biggest money maker. We're fucked, they are never selling.
Does anyone else recall a tweet from last night that the Jets presented Monken as an OC to Rhule and Rhule said no?
This just in via text from my rabid Jets fan friend, Vinnie: "I just lost all faith in our GM. We'll be right back here in 3 years, yet somehow this is good for our QB. They fell in love with Gases' QB prowess, really? Give me a fucking break. He did wonders for Tannehill. He was 5 - 1 vs the Jets with an overall 23-25 record. Think about this. Herman Edwards, Eric Mangini, Rex Ryan, and Todd Bowles combined have 123 wins for the Jets. Mike McCarthy has 125 wins. The Jets have two, count them two, division titles including the Titans. McCarthy has eight but the guy with an impressive record of 23-25 is the right guy for the job. I was really gunning for one of the Harbaughs but how do you take this guy over Mike McCarthy?" Me: "The Brothers Idiot and the Caffeine Addict. I can't take it anymore." Vinnie: EDIT & P.S.: I don't really want to temporarily retire Jamal Adams and his stalker avatar, but I think a change needs to be made.
No but it’s likely. He’s the playcaller for sure but the speculation is the turd from Miami (who also made Tenn and Chicago worse) will come along. What you don’t want to mimic the Miami circus of the last two years?
Why change what you’re doing when you get rewarded with a better QB, the 3rd round pick, and $100mm+ in cap room?
I am in no way saying it was a sure thing, but if I have 2 resumes in front of me and one was McCarthy and the other was Gase to me me thats not a sure thing as nothing ever is but it sure as hell is a NO BRAINER.
Mike McCarthy's record during the same 3 year period is 22 23 and 1 tie. Mike McCarthy for all his great years as an NFL head coach has produced 3 Head Coaches. Ben McAdoo, Joe Philbin and Jeff Jagodzinski(Boston College). Yes that Ben McAdoo of the New York Football Giants. McCarthy is done. Gase may well fail but he was a much better hire.
That's insane. Gase was not a better hire. If you believe that you have the same mental capacity as flat-earthers. The guys that are on board with Gase now that we've hired him and are willing to have faith, I have some respect and some pity for. I used to be them, I'll argue with them but I understand it. People like you, who say Gase is a better higher than McCarthy are on another planet.
Good post No Fly. Especially the part if he is Kottite bad. Don't hand him a 2 year extension after consecutive losing seasons. When is the press conference? I want to hear the selling point of this guy.
Who says I have faith? I have faith that the Packers have better ownership than the Jets. After 12 years and all the success they dumped his ass behind the dumpster during the season and he can't get a job in the NFL when there are openings all over the place.
