Listen to Gase talk for 5 minutes and it's quite obvious he is an arrogant immature asshole. He is simply not likeable. Even if this team wins with him it will be hard to watch given his personality. I can't wait until 2021 and he is gone. These are going to be an ugly 3 years.

After 12 hours of steaming over this decision, I'm finally at peace.
    Am I happy...hell no.
BUT, I was not in favor of McCarthy either, so I wasn't going to be a happy Jet fan no matter what.
I wanted one of the Harbaughs...but that wasn't happening.
The positive is that we've finally got an Offensive guy coming in here at the time we've finally got our FQB.
I'm willing to watch and see what happens. I'm old, there's no other alternative.
We have no control, let the chips fall where they will..
All I can do is pray that McCagnan doesn't blow all the money on stiffs.
Gase can coach, let's all pray he's the next Belichik.. lol

It's not about babying players. They need to win some games consistently. Gase has no record of doing that. That is one of the issues. You could also look at your comment above as he's a control freak. That doesn't work with these new prima donnas.

Cman , my over under on cleaning house is 2 years ,,,,sadly it will be 2 years too late. The damage by Macagnan at that time will be irreversible and will already have set this team back like 5 years.

Don't care, fire him if he has a losing record. Keep doing that till you find a coach that can win. We really can't do any worse.

Dolphin fans from another forum I post on:

Pros: will get the most out of a bad roster
Cons: roster purges, bad attitude, old school "hardass" mentality doesn't always translate well, timid playcalling at crucial moments of the game

Get ready for dump-offs on 3rd and long and a fire sale in the name of "culture change"

I agree, that's why now we need to fire and hire until we find someone that wins. These guys obviously can't choose coaching talent, so we need to do a shotgun blast.

It was reported the decision was between Monken and Gase. MM was not seriously considerded. So you might have been happy if Gase was not the choice.

Well, we can at least give him a chance. I mean, I was more in for Monken or Bieniemy, and even McCarthy. But the last time we hired a former head coach with a less than stellar record with his previous team, he left us for our arch rivals, got himself a draft-steal Hall of Fame QB, and has been a pain in our ass for almost 2 decades...so you never know.

Two separate issues. I blame Wolf and Casserly for Bowles. 4-12 with Darnold progressing and the team playing close games, I would call that the right direction. The exact opposite of what we had under Bowles. It looks like we are headed for the offensive version of Bowles.

Linebacker,,,a question,,,when was the last time they hired ANYONE who had success ? Hiring McCarthy was an open book test Christopher Johnson and Macagnan just failed an open book test.

I disagree with the fire sale part. That wasn't Gase. There's a LONG history of that with Miami that dates back well before Gase. It's the same shit with the Marlins. It's a long running joke with my buddies down here. Every time they have a guy that breaks out as a decent to very good talent, we all joke on the over under before he is traded or let go. Ross is a fuckin moron

I like that he's an offensively minded guy and has had "some" success as a HC.
I'm worried that he comes from the Mike Martz tree, which is an outdated offensive philosophy. I'm also discouraged by Tannehill's regression under his tutelage.
I hope he's learned from his mistakes in Miami, and I'll watch with an open mind, but this hire does not have me pounding my chest.

My prediction is that he's never going to get a fair chance in NY because of his Dolphin ties and our impatience to see a winning team. Three years max.

He doesn’t have control over the roster though.
