Not gonna go through the thread, but I am still in disbelief. The jets have to be the most tone deaf and ridiculous pro sports team. He didn't do anything meaningful in miami and you hire him to lead darnold as a sophmore? The only positive is, if we bomb this season you know johnsons will get rid of gase and maccagnan together. This is a horrific move and feel like the jets could have done soooo much better for this fan base.
For real, super sensitive. I wish we could throw rotten vegetables at those who aroused public displeasure like in the olden days. Old times were better.
We could have had a super bowl winning coach who didn’t want to go anywhere else but the jets. Instead Mac didn’t want anyone else but himself to have personnel power. I Wish I felt more optimistic but this has “soj” written all over it.
It's like there's a law against feeling too much hope about the Jets', before something happens to balance it out. Darnold the QB of the future, Bowles gone? Feels good huh? Here, have some Gase.... Same old Jets. Fuck this franchise to hell.
Awful hire. He keeps getting HC gigs because of his work with Rodgers. Everyone keeps hiring him thinking he can turn whoever into Rodgers. The Dolphins hired him to work with Tannehill and now the Jets have the same idea for Darnold. Gase sucks, just a bad hire.
The truth is this, after the torches are put away, the posts become funny and witty, it’s how we end up coping with difficult times. Even though I’m not happy, as @101GangGreen101 and I were discussing, the change to a 4-3 might help some of the Jets defenders develop and become more productive.
That generally only happens with time off, being forced back into a OC role and proving himself to be HC worthy again. He hasn't been unemployed long enough to learn from past mistakes. That to me is the real issue with this hire. If he was fired 2-3 years ago and was OC somewhere I'd be fine with the hire and hope he matured. The Jets just enabled this guy to think what he did in Miami is fine, that's no Bueno!
We could have had Monken according to reports he ended up the third choice with the Jets unsure whether to choose Gase or Monken. MM does not seem to have been a serious candidate.
Do any football guys know what type of offense Gase runs as opposed to Bates in terms of how much new terminology Darnold will be learning?
