Typical corporate CEO type decision: Spend as little money as possible (which I'm SURE was the factor) with the mindset that they don't care if their product is shit as long as they're making money. I guess this fanbase got what it wanted though: An offensive minded coach with prior NFL head coaching experience. I want to believe that Gase's mediocrity was due to Tannehill's mediocrity and now that he has a true (potential) franchise QB, things will be better. But I have a worry that this is going to be Rich Kotite 2.0.
I really fuckin hate this move, but am hopeful that his offensive mind could be a good thing for Darnold and this team
In all seriousness. Is anyone who's been a fan of this team for more than 20 minutes really surprised???
Didn't this guy take matt Moore into the playoffs his first year? Then he had jay cutler for a year lol, then this year he had a good start before crashing. I like how he is a QB centric guy, however the player stuff revolving around him is concerning but maybe the dolphins were just south beach babies. Landry is the only player really run out of town but he was owed money anyway and they didn't want to pay him. Other thing I noticed is his tending to play favorites which could get annoying. I see some positives in this hire actually and am willing to give it a chance but I'd have preferred monken or mccarthey even. Lots of the hate for gase seems over the top and almost memish in nature.
Haven't felt strong enough pro/con about the named candidates (McCarthy, Ruhle, Gase, etc.), spare for a handful of guys I definitely did not want here. This should be interesting. The Jets have done great at hiring mediocrity (Mangini, Herm, Groh, etc.), with a couple of disasters (Kotite, Bowles) for good measure. For the fan base and my own sanity, let's hope they got it right this time. Best I can say is, Gase can't be as bad as Bowles. (Of course, he could be, but I'd like to keep it positive.)
I am actually laughing here. I used to take this organization seriously but these days are long gone. What a freaking joke!
Do we have any idea who the OC and DC may be? Calling @TonyFtLaud in here immediately. Tony thoughts? Can you talk me down from the ledge??
This is nonsense. The Johnsons have spent plenty of money on scouting, the training facility and everything else it takes to run an NFL team. They are not cheap, they are just fucking stupid.
The sad part Falco is that I think he would be great for Darnold, but the other 52 players, everyone else in the building and the fans will hate him. Dude handled Miami opressers like he was the smartest guy on earth. How do you think thats going to play out in NY? Buckle up fellas, this is going to be an interesting 3 years.
