They got no penalty actually just a bunch of players deccomitted and transferred.

Even so they were still left with some talented players and had more then enough talent to beat shitty liberty college and shitty UTSA but they lost.

He basically did what bill O'Brien did with 2012 penn state but without the 8-4 record and without any offensive or QB coaching skills.

That penn state team was left for dead, had actual scholarship sanctions and won 8 games. Rhules team was left for dead and stayed dead

Man the NFL has this this coaching thing all wrong. 32 teams bunch of morons. Hiring a QB coach, LB coach, O line coaches, Secondary coaches. Just find great players and let them have at it! That coaching nonsense is the biggest scam in the history of sports.

Go get McCarthy for fucks sake. Let him develop Darnold. Then fire him in 3-4 for years if you don’t like him. The key here is to develop Darnold. He is still 21.

Like Copeland said when asked on SNY TV...what do you need in a coach & he said one that can get all 3 phasess of the team playing well together. I think he was hinting that Bowles did not have enough input in all 3 phases, offense, defense, special teams. EXAMPLE: LIONS GAME, all thee phases were humming in that game. I don't doubt Rhule can be a good HC IF HE PUTS TOGETHER A GOOD CS. If he can do this then I will be OK with Rhule as our HC

It’s really not a myth, though to what level McCarthy coached up Rogers is up for debate.

Its so indicative of how the Johnsons have ruined this franchise over the last 20 years. Bad decision after bad decision. Over and over and over again. I kinda figured Chris and Macc didn't want anyone in the bldg with more football savvy than they have. Easier to brainwash younger fans into thinking they're making sound decisions and success is just a draft away. Nothing could be further from the truth. If Chris or Woody Johnson really wanted a football mind in the bldg, they would have hired one by now. Macc is not that mind. Neither is Chris no matter how much he pretends that he is. From the beginning, Chris staked out his turf by saying two things... One, he's keeping the same structure that has never worked and all decision are run thru him. 2, he wasn't going to hire any HC that wanted full autonomy over personnel. By doing those two things, he limited his available pool of potential candidates.

    Seen this movie before...

Coaching obviously matters but I’m not giving McCarthy a huge amount of credit for Rodgers being great

Especially a guy like Rodgers who has made his career off of broken plays and instincts

I am not sure even the anti-Mayfield posters at draft time got as bad as some of the posters here. There is so much anger and nastiness here.

The bottom line is whoever becomes our new HC, we can do nothing about it but just hope he turns out to be a great coach. I am not a MM fan but I will be excited if he becomes our coach because whoever the coach is it is a promise of hope and something to be excited about.

Who cares who we each supported for coach let's just be excited we will soon have a new coach and hopefully be a better team that will come to dominate the division for the next two decades.

Yeah, agreed...like what could a replacement level head coach have done with a talent like Rodgers?

Would McCarthy have Mark Sanchez playing lights out right now for instance?

Exactly, Darnold just passed NFL QB 101. He still needs to learn NFL QB 102, 103, etc. McCarthy can teach him that stuff in his sleep. The split between McCarthy and Rodgers and the biggest criticism of the coach is because Rodgers is now at an advanced level. He is grown beyond what McCarthy can teach him. We should be so lucky to see Darnold reach that same point. Hire the man. Pay him his money.

This franchise needs an experienced authoritarian type....at least he has won a SB. He will do wonders with Darnold.....let him put a winning foundation in place. A guy like Rhule might better fit a team that already has that foundation set.....
