I can't wait to see how they try to pass this off either. Then again, actually, I can wait. I'm so tired of this franchise's willful incompetence that it just makes me sick.

You can’t take away past accomplishment but you also can’t pretend like McCarthy was a slam dunk choice and came without risk.

IMO he came with just as many if not more risk than any other candidate out there. Most of the best coaches in the league were unknown prior to becoming the best coaches in the league.

I have no idea if Rhule will work out but I also had no idea if McCarthy would work out.

I am not a huge fan of Rhule either, but to be fair he has been a Head coach two times. Just not at the NFL level. I don't think that's worth nothing.

Rhule is the guy if you don’t like it well that’s one less whiny idiot we have to listen to on here. McCarthy sucks I’m thrilled it’s not him

An unsuccessful college coach coming to take charge of the most unsuccessful team in New York history (in any sport...).

McCarthy is my top choice, but to be honest I am afraid he'd be too much like Bowles. He is way too conservative during leads (We hated bowles for this). He makes dumb old-school decisions and his offense isn't particularly exciting. McCarthy + Monken I feel would solve a lot of those issues. I still think McCarthy brings the best out of all the candidates to this organization.

Perfectly said CMan. A situation you didn't think they could screw up and here we are......

The young Jets fan will soon learn. Being all giddy about the next hot guy learning on the job. And I don't want to hear from them after the 1st year when the Jets go 9-7, 10-6 followed by 3 years of 5-6 win seasons and another coaching search for the next "hot name" cheap in price 1st timer learning on the job again.

Ground Hog Day - life of a Jets fan....

It's so frustrating. Especially since its being reported that McCarthy actually WANTS to coach here.

Try to look at it this way.. McCarthy's teams have done what Jets teams have failed to do for 8 years now. If his teams collapsed, at least they were relevant. Something the Jets have not been in a long, long time. Parcells bought instant credibility to the Jets. Taught them how to play winning football. We didn't have to wait years for Parcells to learn how to be a HC either.

"Average" is better than what we've done since 2011. We suck KK. We just can't or don't know how to play winning football. Now we go hire yet another newbie as if the last 5 hires have worked out famously.

So, if you want to wait on Rhule, fine. The Jets need fans like that. I'm not one of them anymore.

McCarthy is a known quantity who can coach. He may or may not be a great coach, but he is a winning coach. Only one of the candidates that you can say that about.

    Winning matters.

Rhule is a fantastic coach most people probably didn’t hear about him until 3 minutes ago because they don’t follow college

One of McCarthy's predecessors might say that it's the only thing.

But, then again, the only thing that matters to the Jets is selling merchandise and getting people to come out to the stadium to watch the latest crappy product they put out on the field.

I’m just not impressed when you have a top 3 QB EVER and you do a decent job....He didn’t dominate the NFL or even NFC, and he sure as hell did nothing without Rodgers

We dont have Rodgers here, why should I be so sure that he’s going to do anything special?

I dont love Rhule, I want Monken....I just dont get the McCarthy love

MCarthy fans seem to be those who are dying to go 9-7 every year and miss the playoffs. That’s not the point!
