There's so much smoke that it's hard to say what's really going on. We are basing our info off of hack writers trying to be first with info (correct or not), and unknown Twitter handles.
Again = what is really insane to me besides all the waiting and rumors is that ----Mccarthy and Rhule have the same agent. I will also say it again I like Rhule a lot he was on my wishlist but I cannot believe that the Jets would pass on a known in McCarthy for an unknown in Rhule .
Did some digging into this matt rhule overachieved business. He finished 7-6 this year with 13 total 4 star talents on his roster a little over half of those were upperclassman. For conference comparison 9-3 Iowa state had 1 total 4 star talent. TCU also had less 4 star talents and finished 7-6 where is that coaches parade ? Baylor had more 4 star talents then over 75 percent of the conference but somehow 7-6 is overachieving
What would they be playing hard ball on though? All contracts are guaranteed, and there's no cap to worry about.
You’re a smart man NC, your are a HC that has proved nothing at the NFL level, you think he’s going to come in and make waves? I’m not saying he needs to be like Gase and yell at his boss but he’s going to have enough on his plate and will defer to Mac on many issues becaue he wants to be a team player. I posted this before the coaching search started. When and if Mcarthy interviews with the Jets, his 13 years as an offensive minded HC is going to expose Mac for the fraud that he is. Johnson I can forgive becaue this is his first time doing this and he admitted it. Mac has been around the NFL and it’s executives for quite some time, the fact that he has no blueprint for this team and team is still floundering with him as GM proves he’s a bum.
Maybe its staff related? The Browns offered Macarthy the job if Freddie Kitchens could stay on as OC and he declined. The Browns hired Freddie Kitchens as HC....who the fuck is Freddie Kitchens
that the Jets are going to make a good hire. Call me crazy, but I honestly think that a lot of the NFL teams hiring right now have really REACHED big-time for some pretty questionable hires, and I think that the Jets by hanging back and not making a hire yet are going to reap the reward of that particular strategy.
Much of that is attributable to Rhule, though. https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/02/01/baylor-bears-recruiting-matt-rhule
Fair he is a good recruiter that's fine and dandy But The 7 total 4 star upperclassman are not all attributable to Rhule. The point was he is not getting good results with his talent at Baylor contrary to the media lies they are trying to feed us. Iowa state is an example of gettin good results with no talent but certainly not Baylor
Twitter is a cess pool of random people reporting who the team is hiring. It seems to me that the team is taking their time picking the right coach and this is causing everyone to create rumors about the process.
Thanks. I knew that you would have a good, logical basis for your reasoning. I respect you and your opinion, but largely disagree on this issue. While I agree that during his first year, he may defer to Mac some, or maybe even a lot, if he starts feeling overwhelmed because of all he has on his plate. That doesn't make him a "yes" man imo. It just makes him practical. He's fiery and a leader in his own right. If he does it at all, I'd bet that it would only be during his rookie season, and that things next year would be very different. Since he won't report to Mac and would report to Chris instead, I'm certain that if it was something that Rhule felt strongly about, he wouldn't just say yes, he'd argue to the contrary. While I don't see him as trouble maker, I don't see him as a passive "yes" man, either. If he makes waves, he makes waves. He's not gonna go out of his way looking to do that, but I don't think he goes out of his way to avoid it, either. If he's as confident and competent as I think he is, he's not gonna be passive or be some guy who just thinks he's lucky to have a HC job in the NFL. He's gonna believe that he can succeed and thrive doing things his way.
