WOW I did not know that McCarthy and Rhule have the same agent-----I think we are getting played my friends
For real. They're the guys that have a new toy, but don't quite know how to operate it. Except they've had the toy more than long enough to figure it out Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
What's the correlation between people that like McCarthy for HC and support McAdoo, Joe Philbin, and Adam Gase as OC options, all are retreads who have experienced abject failure in their recent HC tenures. But those same people detest the thought of people with recent success like Monken or Rhule. This baffles the mind but is so interesting why that is.
Chris: Has Jim Harbaugh returned our calls? Mac: Nope. Chris: How much longer can we wait? Mac: We really should hire a guy ASAP. Teams are filling coaching staffs. Chris: But Harbaugh would be great. I put out that release tricking everyone that we were not interested. Remember? Mac: Yeah, it worked great sir, but I am not so sure Jim has any interest due to his lack of communication with us. Chris: True. Okay I say we give it a few more weeks. Mac: ..............................................
I agree with what you're saying but of the hires anyone you wanted? None jump out to me. I'm just hoping we pick the right one.
The bears defense does not need Bowles, they were fine without him. Now we are going to hear how great a job he’s doing with them.....blah,blah,blah!
Well the other option would be some position coach gets promoted and we have to worry about hiring him as the hot hc candidate in 4 years. Your call.
I was initially lukewarm at best on McCarthy. After more reflection, I hope the Jets sign him. The most experienced coach with the best track record in the NFL, is only is interested in coming here. He likes the QB situation, and likely the cap situation. Let's not overthink it, or gamble away this opportunity for the perceived next best thing. I understand the desire to do something different, to chase innovation, and to try to catch lightning in a bottle. The flip side is the gamble this presents, as generally these are unproven guys without the experience in this league. Sometimes they hit, but all too often they flop. Ideally I'd like McCarthy, and hope he brings on an innovative OC like a Monken, along with a seasoned DC like Gregg Williams. Having a long history in the league, I'm sure he has a pretty vast network to assemble a staff from (it just better not be Macadoo!)
Bowles has a relationship with Nagy too. Nagys father coached Bowles, and Bowles wanted Nagy as OC after Gailey left. What could have been...
Mcarthy will be here paying dividends with Darnold for four years, we won’t need to hire any up and coming new coaches.
All you can ask for a coach is that they maximize the talent they have. Take bad personnel and make them average, take good personnel and make them great. If the Bears play great defense, he'd be doing his job well. I'd have no problem with that, and would wish him well. He's a good DC afterall, and I wish he would've stepped in more with our D here.
We really need to stop with these HC / OC / DC combos some are creating form our pool of HC candidates. They are just not going to happen. Your proposed coordinator is looking for this HC job and VERY unlikely to settle for a consolation prize with the same team, and that is assuming the HC even wants him...which brings us to point #2...in most cases these combos have no connection, and the HC is very unlikely to hire someone who was gunning for the same job he just got.
Another bigger problem with those OCs (if they were to happen) is 2020. They would be interviewing for HC jobs again (barring a good outing), which would leave the Jets with no OC and a young QB on his 3rd offense in 3 years.
The Jets aren't really in a rush, unless Monken's their guy. Nobody else is likely to get hired elsewhere.
u mean the new HC isn't going to bring in Mike Martz to run the offense and Buddy Ryan for Defense? Thank You!!! getting tired of these fantasy Combos!!
