I don't know about ANY of these rumors as I am reading Bowles did not commit to the Bucs but might now land in Chicago with the Bears and screw up a good defense !
Todd Bowles - C - Free Agent The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs reports ex-Jets coach Todd Bowles hasn't finalized anything with the Bucs and is considering the Bears' defensive coordinator job. It was widely reported on Tuesday that Bowles was going to Tampa Bay to rejoin coach Bruce Arians as his defensive boss, but Biggs reports Bowles and Matt Nagy have spoken multiple times in recent days with Beard DC Vic Fangio now off to the Broncos as their new coach. Bowles would have far more talent to work with in Chicago, obviously. He'd be silly not to take that job.
"“Matt's dad was my high school defensive line coach from when I was at Elizabeth,” Bowles said. “I watched Matt grow up and go to Delaware and play football after that a little bit. We coached together in Philadelphia. So, I've known Matt pretty much his whole life. His dad is a heck of a guy and I've known him pretty much, it seems like forever. Outstanding coach, very intelligent.” CHI could be a fit for Todd after all. I still think he's better off with the Bucs.
Seeyalaterbye. I have to give Kacy Rodgers credit, though. He had a "life threatening condition" (whatever it was, not my or anyone else's business), yet still managed not to die as a direct result of being on staff with the Jets. That's the very definition of death defying right there. High-five, Kacy, high-five.
Disagree. I think Tampa was actually a wiser choice. The problem with going to the Bears is that you have huge expectations inheriting a defense that is coming off of an unbelievable year. If they regress to the mean at all next year (likely), guess who will be blamed? (Similar to when Rex took Buffalo's defense over)
Rodgers was no better than Dennis Thurman under Rex Ryan. And it probably ended up same with Bowles actually running the defense. Just like Rex did.
