Hiring Mike McCarthy will be one of the best things this franchise has done in years. This guy has been in the league for 13 years and has a 125 and 77 record as a head coach. He has played in 18 playoff games and has one super bowl ring, somehting many of us on this forum have NEVER witnessed as a Jets fan. But what really strikes me, is the comments "well he has Aaron Rodgers". What makes one think Rodgers made McCarthy and not the other way around? Why does that argument work one way but not the other? McCarthy has helped mold Rodgers into the QB he is today and has a SOLID record and history to show for it. As I said in a previous post, it doesn't matter what this franchise does, there will always be people bitching and complaining about it. Just because McCarthy had a falling out in Green Bay, does not justify ignoring his entire history as the head coach of the Packers prior to the last couple years. If you told me 3 years ago that the Jets would be hiring McCarthy, I would have said you were full of shit and would be jumping for joy.
Not sure Monken is head coach material. Apparently Rhule knows how to run an offense. McCarthy with Monken as OC is my primary choice. Change of scenary can help.
As long as we bring in Dick Curl for clock management. I can see McCarthy being really hated here. I am not sure he has any idea what he is in for coming to NY.
So this is why I said it was better to keep Bowles for 1 last year. The pool just isn't all that impressive this year. Harbaugh might shake loose next year. Who knows. So far I stand by my assertion Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
You can see him being really hated here, how's that any different than any other coach we gave ever had?
If McCarthy gets 6 wins out of this roster in his first year, he'll be fine. All he has to do is NOT be Todd Bowles and show us all why he's won as many games as he has. I think it will come down to the quality of the staff McCarthy or whomever the HC is assembles.
The difference is McCarthy is known for having a thin skin and not liking criticism. Our other coaches Could handle it. McCarthy is coming from a very sheltered enviorment with very friendly media. I think he has no idea what he is in for.
So get 6 wins after an offseason spending spree in his first year to prove he’s not Bowles, who had 10?
My question for people questioning McCarthy is this, where do you draw the line between giving credit to the coach or crediting the QB? Before the last 2 years, which were his falling out years with Green Bay, he had 114 wins and 61 losses, that's a .535 winning percentage. Even with the last two years he has a .618 winning percentage. But the argument always comes up about him having Aaron Rodgers. But why then is Bellicheck labeled one of the greatest coaches to ever live with Tom Brady, but McCarthy doesn't get credit with Rodgers? McCarthy was in a much harder division and conference than a guy like Bellicheck and still he amassed 6 division titles, 9 winning seasons, 9 playoff appearances, and 1 super bowl win, all in 13 years. It's mind blowing that people are not liking him as potentially our new head coach
My top choices: 1. Monken - innovative, fearless, charismatic, adapts his offense to his players, lots of experience in the league. A leader who players respond to. 2. Richard's Lots of experience for someone so young, great leadership, well respected and connected. 3. Rhule Love his leadership potential and ability to turn around a teams fortunes. 4. Caldwell Connected, took the lions to playoffs twice and best able to put together a staff. The safest candidate. 5. Bienemy. Not sure if he is ready yet. 6. Mc Carthy Looks like a terrible fit for the NY market. Will likely implode. 7. Todd Bowles I like him better than Gase. At least Bowles appears to be a good guy.
So you have McCarthy one spot above rehiring Todd Bowles? Implode in the New York market? Please explain. I am highly curious as to your reasoning behind saying "he will likely implode"?
He is known for being extremely thin skinned and not liking criticism. He might do well in a smaller market but NY does not seem at all like a good fit for him. Not to mention our fans are fed up with coaches with poor clock management and bad game decisions. Add in his conservative offensive philosphy and people will get fed up quickly. I do not see him being able to handle the ny media or the fan criticism. 2 years maybe 3 before he is gone. If I had a team in some very rural area with no media I would be much more inclined to consider McCarthy. But not NY. It does not make sense for him or us. You want to start an expansion team in North Dakota then I am all in on McCarthy.
Yeah I don’t get it either falco, it’s crazy. Everyone wants an offensive mind and a proven winner. Here he is and they try to find every little thing to run him down. People don’t care about results anymore. Just the loudest opinion or something. It’s crazy
OK, you mean the same conservative offensive philosophy that won him 6 division titles, 9 playoff appearances, and a superbowl win? That same philosophy? And where is he "known" for having thin skin? Where are these coming from? The guy has an incredible history in Green Bay, now he's thin skinned and has poor coaching abilities? I'm not trying to be combative, but this is crazy. Instead of reposting things you're reading from disgruntled Packers fans or media reporters, take a look at his actually history and tell me where he fails?
