Can’t go by total yards. Of course teams passed against them because they were always losing and can’t run against that front 7. The secondary is beatable but it’s also not 29th

As long as McCarthy has the fire I am down with it. Anytime you lose a job in the NFL its a bit of a wake up call and I am hoping he will realize his weaknesses and works on them. I would imagine he has the fire and would also want to prove Rodgers wrong, that added incentive does not hurt. I hope he is all in and sees Sam as the key to winning another championship, or god forbid multiple. Finally, if the Jets have any allure at all, it is in the fact that if you do win here, you will be a "freakin' legend." I cringed when Christopher Johnson said that but it is true. Win a championship with the Jets and you will be revered for all time.

I will go to sleep tonight knowing that deep down inside, preferences or not, I will support any choice and root my ass off for the new coach to be successful. All I want is smart, fun, aggressive football. I'm tired of getting stuck in the past while everyone else is moving forward. If it's MM, I hope he uses the opportunity to refresh his approach and shove the criticism up Aaron's ass at the SB.

I clearly didn’t mean “all”. A simple figure of speech.

If he wasn’t a bad candidate he would have interviewed with more than one team.

I disagree. IMO it would be not only premature, but dumb to offer a job to a candidate when they haven't completed their interviews. Even though they may have liked Kingsbury, they could have wound up liking Monken a whole lot more, and would never have known that if they didn't interview him. One is best prepared to make a rational decision when one has all the data/facts. Making a decision before one has all the data/facts is irresponsible and rash. The process cannot be driven by fear.

My only caveat to that would be if their top-rated candidate heading into the interviews totally blew them away in his interview, answered every question perfectly, and was a perfect fit. At least it would be understandable then, but even then with the additional time to think about it and the information they gain from the last interview, they could wind up changing their minds.

If one of the candidates stood out head and shoulders above the rest, I don't think there will be any 2nd interviews. The only way I see that happening is if they can't make up their minds and they have 2 or more of the candidates rated pretty equally or if one or more of the candidates' interviews were shorter than others due to time constraints.

I've always felt you have to look at yards and red zone %.
is the D yielding field position, and are they yielding TD's?

fwiw, red zone % is 24th.
total yds 14th as I mentioned.

so outside of excellent run D, it isn't more than an avg D overall imo.

They’re 10th or 11th in DVOA. Not elite but very solid Again, yards is not a good stat. Teams gonna play catch up against the Saints, they pass a ton.

I'm mostly apathetic, leaning towards negativity on McCarthy, but man, I'd sign up for him being falsely propped up to HOF status by a third franchise QB. That would be a good time.

It's possible he wasn't very interested in the other teams besides the Jets and Browns, as they have the best QB situations.

I'd rather have Monken as HC; otherwise, in a year or two, some other NFL team will hire him away. I'd rather he be here awhile.
