What if they go 7-9 in 2020 because Darnold goes down with a season ending injury, but go 12-4 and win the Super Bowl in 2021?
Yeah i could definitely sense frustration lol. It's not like all the experienced coaches aren't interested though, there just aren't many available. Timing generally doesn't work out for this cursed team. I like Rhule's experience and track record as a HC, albeit at the college level. Darnold is worth maintaining a glimmer of optimism, but I agree it a'int easy rooting for this team sometimes.
Saints D? They've been better, but I still don't trust them honestly. Secondary is always an issue there.
No, he was not the defensive version of Reich - completely different personality...Reich has one and Bowles doesn't.
Then I would cheer them on in 2021 but I would have to have iron clad proof its not simply an outlier and after that SB we go another 50 years in the wilderness. If Darnold goes down with an injury, shit happens sometimes. If Darnold goes down with an injury because the HC is f'n stupid and did something to mitigate it, I'm gone. Look, I've paid my dues. I sat in the back of sport bars because the Jets sucked so much that they put them on a tiny fckn TV. I'm fckn done. My patience well is dry. They have until 2020 or I'm done and honestly, I have no regrets but I am taking a stand here. This is Cman's last rodeo. 2020 or bust..
Lattimore and Marcus Williams are damn good but the secondary is beatable. Best run defense in football though. Overall they’re a back half of top 10 d and we’re even better last year.
Here's the link to a pretty funny SI article describing the search for a new head coach. Actually, it was a whole lot funnier before I realized the article probably describes what Woody/Chris and Maccagnan are doing right now. https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/01/08/nfl-head-coaching-carousel-team-interviews
I understand. 50+ years of failure, disappointment, and heartbreak will do that and I don't blame you one bit. As I've said before, it'll take a decade or two of ineptitude before I lose interest as I don't have your fandom experience of >50 years.
Just looked them up, 2nd best rush defense (only Chicago better) yielding only 80 yds per game. That's great! Passing D ranks 29th though, dragging their Total D to 14th, which is just kinda average. I agree Lattimore has been great, but that's a very beatable secondary group overall. Still, much better than recent years, and no coincidence they back in the Super Bowl hunt!
My gut says we are down to 2. It's either Monken or McCarthy. If Its Monken he could bring in Williams as Assistant HC and DC. Monken can then bring in another young whipper snapper at OC to do the day to day. We could have more fireworks that ever. And a defense that actually plays in position. With McCarthy the OC position might be a bit too old fashion. The time is growing near. Will there be darkness among the fans or a major ray of sunshine?
I disagree,The Jets have 4 -12 Talent..We have 2 Pro Bowlers and ones a kick returner. We need game changers like Levon Bell etc...A guy who changes the game when the ball is in his hands.
He won't make much of a difference here regarding wins and losses. You don't sink that much money in a back when the resources could be better allocated to multiple positions. We can draft a very good, productive, and cheap back in the 3rd round
https://nypost.com/2019/01/08/why-the-jets-coaching-search-just-got-more-urgent/ Yep.. When you have two guys that are in way over their heads trying to make a critical Corporate Decision, you run the danger of "paralysis by analysis". Chris/Macc are gonna have to make the hire and live with the results. Again, if Chris had the foresight or authority to hire a VP of Football Ops, the Jets wouldn't be in this position but noooooo….
