Praying it’s Monken. He turned chicken sh*t into chicken salad in TB with both Jameis and Fitzpatrick and if they had an average defense they would’ve won a bunch of games.
Take it from a former college tennis player, being a top 10 junior in the US doesn't mean you're super athletic. There's a reason the US hasn't produced a men's singles Grand Slam champion in over 15 years.
Just in case no one's posted this yet: https://www.northjersey.com/story/s...n-interviews-could-he-fix-offense/2511150002/ I know absolutely nothing about the guy apart from what's in that article. If he'll fix the offense and give Darnold some stability, sure, let's see what he can do.
At THIS POINT: Really hoping Rhule, Monken or McCarthy Caldwell is like the the nice girl in school that everyone says would be a good girlfriend but nobody is willing to date themselves, and Gase is like the unstable one you can't bring home to the family because her and your sister are going to be fighting the whole time. This is not surprising though, besides drafting Darnold, the Jets never really get their first (or second) option in much of anything. We shall see.
I prefer Caldwell to McCarthy because Caldwell will hire an OC. He'll set the tone, but the OC will run the offense. With McCarthy, he's running the offense, and him running the offense is what got him shitcanned.
Yea I saw this. It's baffling to me that people could want McCarthy here given who he would bring along with him, as if he's not bad enough himself.
Yeah multiple times throughout the season. Darnold is more talented than Jameis and better than Fitzpatrick. I believe Monken will get a lot out of Darnold and our current skill players. I also want a HC who is the scheme, not an OC that can get poached within 2 years.
One of my fears ( besides the 2 guys that are doing the hiring ) is that THEY actually don't like McCarthy , rather than the other way around. I mean if it gets out that McCarthy turned us down I think Jet fans could stomach that rather than find out later that McCarthy wanted the job and these clowns said NO THANKS, and in that case as if the pressure is not on them already I would think the Jets would have to hit a home run here or be second guessed BIGTIME by media and fans alike for a long time to come. ps unless we can somehow get Harbaugh , Tomlin or Sean Peyton , McCarthy would be at the top of my list followed by Rhule
Taking a HC that brings a scheme is a really good point. If successful, it gives the team an identity that can't be poached. Definitely a good sell on taking an offensive HC that has a signature style.
I literally couldn't have more of the opposite opinion. I would be thrilled to hear that they turned down McCarthy. It would signal that they are understand the direction the NFL is moving in and understand the importance of giving Sam the best tools to grow.
