Our remaining games: Buffalo Minnesota Miami Oakland I am not saying this is by any means in the bag, but we have to focus on each game like it was a playoff game and kick it into high gear. Go for the Juglar! When you have him down, keep him down. When he is bleeding, make him bleed more. If you know you can win; don't talk about it; proove it on the football field; play like you mean business and deliver; no holding back or resting. Now is when we find out where we really are as a team. That is how a champion thinks. We can do this and finish the year 11-5, as incredible as it may sound. Who in their right minds would have thought this. This would put a smile on anyone who has ever been a Jets fan. As far back as I can remember, there were a lot of times we were expected to do well and didn't, but not too darn many where the expectations were low and we came through to over-achieve. This is really exciting. We have the existing talent and most importantly, the coachig to pull this off. 11-5 definitely gets us in the playoffs as either a wild card or a division champion, although I doubt we get a bye. 10-6, we likely get in the playoffs, but not a total sure thing. 9-7, we are home for the holidays and looking to next year. We absolutely have to beat Buffalo and Miami. They are division games and that kind of thing makes a huge difference at the end of the year. If we lose to Oakland I will vomit - it will nearly ruin the season for me. Why? We couldn't deliver. If we beat Buffalo than let freaking beat Minnesota and get it done. I don't have too many worries though, other than injury. Mangini has this crew believing and has the team prepared to play football each week. You can just see and feel the momentum - there is like a magic in the air - a buzz. Cool to be a Jet fan. Let's finish what we started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What was so crazy with what he just said? He basically had an exteneded post stating that if we win the next four games we will be in and it is exciting...
I was serious, I'm buying into it myself- anything is possible at this point, there's nothing to say that we CAN'T go 11-5
last year the fins won their last 6 in a row, and so did the steelers who entered the playoffs as a wildcard. the map has been drawn, we just need to get our compasses out and follow it.
We will win 3 out of 4, we will not beat Miami.I wish we will but I doubt it happens.Either way this FO has done a heck of a job I thought we will not will 5 games when the season started and i thought we were locks to get Adrian Peterson, but now, it looks like we are making a playoff push.
Adrian Peterson would be somewhat foolish to come out early (he is a Junior). He has been injured most of the year with a badly broken collar bone if I am not mistaken. Even if you were really good the year before, your stock in the draft drops considerablely if you do not have numbers for the prior year or can produce in the combines.
The Colts and Chargers are our allies throughout this last quarter. Check the schedules and you'll see the damage these two teams can cause to the other playoff contenders. And it's not like it's far-fetched that they can win a lot of meaningful games for us... I really think these two teams are on a roll. Indianapolis needs home field advantage and Philip Rivers needs to prove he's the man. Between the two, we could wind up in pretty good shape.
That being said, I think that if we were to meet SD in the playoffs we'd be absolutely SPANKED, to the Nth degree....
At the head of the season I said there were 11 "winnable" games and 5 "unwinnable" games. I anticipated that we may steal one "unwinnable". We did, winning in New England. We've dropped one "winnable" game too, at Cleveland. That makes us 6-1 in the "winnable" games with four to play. We went 1-4 in the "unwinnable" games.
I was talking to my brother this morning, this game vs. Buffalo is THE trap game for our season. This team will get up for Oakland in the season finale with the playoffs probably on the line. This team will get up for Miami on Christmas day in their only primetime appearance. This team will have to be up for a near .500 club in Minnesota in order to make their playoff push. This game vs. Buffalo though has me worried(although I think we can win). We just stomped GB. Everyone is saying NY Jets are going to the playoffs. Buffalo doesn't have a great record. They are a division opponent and it doesn't matter what their record is, they can always win. I'm worried, but I think Mangini can keep us going. He's got to get the players up for this game. If we take this game, then the playoffs truely are in sight.
I agree. Buffalo would love to be the spoiler and basically has nothing to lose and that's always dangerous. Having said that, if McGahee is out (or not 100%) that could be our ace in the hole. If Buffalo cannot run the ball you are asking Losman to get it in the air on 2nd and 3rd downs and that's precisely when he messes up. Our DEF can make his passing game miserable all afternoon.
