Thanks. Yes, I saw Broadway Sam's post and your response indicating that it is a Cimini article, which immediately puts that supposed philosophy of Rhule in question. Cimini is an idiot and posts a lot of negative crap to fit his agendas.
So the Jets went "Big Game" Hunting and they will end up with Gase, Rhule or Kingsbury? They can't even hunt right!
Ive liked Gase as a candidate all along.Like it or not he checks all the boxes of innovative, experienced & offensive minded. I think Miami’s scouting sucks even worse than our’s yet Gase was slowly building something when Tannehill was healthy. Hes gonna need to learn how to treat people better but last i heard so did coaches like Knoll,Saban,Lombardi & Bellicheat. Im sure hes had to andwer for those things in interviews.Im sure he’ll need to make personal changes & perhaps bring in some “good cops”for his staff to balance things out The underrated aspect is the Sam factor. If hes really having a heavy say & thiks Gase is the best for him & the team..so be it
What if Gase is head coach, and brings Kingsbury as OC? Just a thought Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
Huh, good question, never thought of it http://forums.theganggreen.com/thre...ing-search-thread.91725/page-106#post-3782439
I could see it. That Arizona job isn't great. I wouldn't say it's impossible that he wants to get in the NFL at the OC level so he can go for a better job next year.
I wouldn't hate a Gase hiring. Sometimes these young HC coaches learn from their mistakes at their first stop.
If he got Kliff as OC and G Williams as DC, it might take the sting out a little. But if Gase is the dbag he appears to be, i don't see a line forming out the door to work with him.
We've seen all types of coaches succeed and fail with OTHER TEAMS, not with the Jets. Most of the HCs in Jets' history were first-time HCs, and they came from a defensive background. The rest of your post is fair. I don't want Caldwell, Gase, or any of the other former HCs who are available. I think I want McCarthy, but only if he has realized the mistakes in his offensive system and approach, has made or is planning to make some major changes, and hires an assistant coach to help him with game and clock management, and maybe play calling too. I think the positives he offers are his ability to put together a quality CS, commanding respect from day one, developing Sam, establishing a winning culture, and having the team prepared to play each and every week. In one sense, I think he's the safest candidate. That said, I don't necessarily want just the "safest" candidate. I want someone who can take this team beyond mediocrity and to greatness. That may take two HCs, however. As some have pointed out, McCarthy might develop Sam and get us to the level of mediocrity. If so, we could then possibly move on from McCarthy to that young up and comer with a better offensive mind, and then take the next step. I like Rhule's potential, but have serious concerns with his ability to put together a quality CS and especially a coordinator who could develop Sam and the offense. Even if he found one, he could be hired away within a year or two if he does a great job. I really like Monken's potential. He has a good bit of NFL experience and at least has been a HC at the collegiate level, so he wouldn't be starting from scratch in that regard. I'd have some questions about his ability to put together a quality CS, but would definitely feel better about his chances than Rhule. I want no part of Kingsbury unless it's as OC.
Peyton Manning loves him, so that is a positive. I don't think Miami was ever good the 3 years he was there. He always out-coached Bowles, but that does not say too much. No doubt Darnold is better than Tannehill or Cutler, so that could help Gase. If the Jets hire Kingsbury, then maybe Jamal Adams truly is the President!
Are you surprised? If they went hunting in reality, they'd either shoot their foot off, or never be able to get the safety off. They'd wind up throwing the bullets/shells at their prey.
Watching NFLN right now. They announcing Bucs and Arians under negotiations, with Bowles likely as DC, so looks like that is going to happen. (I actually would've liked that combo here, but obviously would never happen). No word on the Jets. I'm hoping it's not Gase!
Can we get Peyton as head of Operations? That would make this more palatable. I'm having a hard time with Gase as the option.
What concerns me about Gase are the allegations he is hated by his players. Being a control freak and treating people poorly can only work for a coach that has earned respect like Parcells or Belechick. Guys like Mangini, Haley, McDaniels who treat players badly will always have a bad ending. Gase might be another immature coach who lacks the people skills and maturity to be a head coach.
