Where is this? Last I see was an article posted 5 hours ago sizing up the candidates. Under the McCarty section there is nothing about relocation there.
So... can we dispel the rumor that $100m, Sam Darnold and the New York brand is enough to make the Jets HC job the most coveted in the NFL? There's only 32 jobs but why do I get the feeling the Jets's job falls somewhere between 25-32. Fuck it. hire another newbie and after he flames out, hire another one... and another one... and another one... Maybe import one down from Canada while we're at it.
Guys on this forum act like we have the pick of the litter. We don't. With our brand it would be hard to attract any successful experienced HC, that's why we always get hungry new guys who don't have many other options to move up.
You can’t dispel that rumor until there’s confirmation McCarthy was offered everything he wanted and still turned the job down.
Was it this thread or the other that there was speculation he was going to sit out a year. Why jump right into interviews if you were going to sit out a year. Take your fat ass down to the islands and relax for a month. Seems weird.
It’s really weird to me that people think McCarthy “turning us down” is an indictment of our front office and QB. Look at every other candidate we are interviewing minus Richard. Innovative offensive-minded coaches who run a modern offense that can adapt with what’s around them. You think they thought “ok let’s go for McCarthy and then if we don’t get him, let’s go for a bunch of guys nothing like him”? I think it’s more likely the FO told McCarthy what they wanted and McCarthy didn’t like it.
If that's true, I don't think I'm going to watch any Jets games next year. I wanted McCarthy, he was a no brainer choice. If we can't have him, I wanted John Harbaugh or Pete Carmichael. And now it seems we are not interviewing either. We are going to have another first time headcoach who is going to get eaten alive by Belicheck.
The thing, those innovative guys you are referencing are all losers. Aside from Beneimey who has only had one year of major success. The rest of these guys are coming from mid-level colleges or from unsuccessful tenures at NFL teams. If we hire some dipshit college guy, I wonder who our coach after him will be. I think Dallas' linebacker coach will be our next next headcoach in about three years.
Pretty bad post here. Monken had success in college and TB led the league in yards this year. Rhule went from 1-11 to winning a bowl game in a year and is a respected offensive mind who also coached in the NFL. Richard has had tons of success in the league but I won’t count him since he’s a defensive guy.
And how many games has Tampa Bay won? How many games as HC has Monken won? Rhule did what, one year in the NFL as assistant offensive line coach for the Giants? Yeah great experience.
Lol. Sooooo we don't want to hire a first year head coach....but we can't hire a coach that has already won a SB because they've never won a SB at another destination. Sounds like we need Marvin Lewis.
I didn’t say that. I said history shows that first time head coaches have won significantly more than coaches who have had prior HC jobs. I’d have no problem hiring an experienced guy. McCarthy ain’t one of them though.
Don't be a fucking dick. Saying bad post, and no offense. You want shitty coaches. I want good coaches that will bring order and success to this franchise. We had the chance for a superbowl winning coach and we fucked it up. Also I wonder how many non-super bowl winning coaches also failed to win the superbowl on their first head coaching job. We could look at that and I'm sure my argument would supported but it wouldn't really shed light on the argument and neither does your piece of trivia .
