And he should. USC shouldn’t be holding their OC back from getting a better gig.

USC coaches and players make more money than many in the NFL.

    Plus hot coeds.

They absolutely should. And they should make it as difficult as possible.

USC is only interested in what’s best for USC.

They aren’t Kliff Kingsbury fans. Or Jet fans.

They signed him to make their team better.

Not to give him a vehicle to advance himself.

    You’re a Jet fan so you’re blinded.

Imagine for a moment you’re a USC alum, player, fan, big bucks donor or administrator.

Would you just say “sure Kliff, whatever is good for you! Fuck us!!”

The world is not filled with Jet fans.

Don’t presume to think the rest of the world is interested in helping out the Jets.

Do folks not get that when coaches sign contracts those contracts have consequences?

    Like fulfilling them?

    When the rules require it?

I’m just trying to be fair.

    And realistic.

Why should USC just let Kingsbury go get “a better gig” a few months after the just signed him to be OC and are using him as a recruiting tool?

Guys need to grow up and stop being so myopic.

Life isn’t about making things better for the Jets.

For one it’s setting a terrible precedent for future coaches.

“You’re stuck here no matter, who cares about you progressing your career”

That will make potential coaches shy away from a coordinator or assistant position with them.

    He signed a fucking contract.

What part of that do you not understand?

Take off your Jets panties and put on a USC hat.

You want to let him go to get a better gig?

    That’s moronic.

And when they fire him will you say he signed a contract?

Your tone is highly unnecessary, what’s with the cussing? Triggered?

If a Jets assistant wanted to progress his career and had the chance to interview for better positions, I’d want him to. That’s the world we live in. I’m not about holding people back.

So you don’t understand how contracts work and you don’t care that your team would be adversely impacted.

    Sounds about right for you.

Explain to me how contracts work.

If I’m a USC administrator and I JUST signed Kliff to be my OC and I’m using that to recruit the top offensive talent in Southern California, why would I want to let him go to get another gig.

I’m just suggesting you don’t understand how contracts work and why people sign them.

I’ve slready asked the question and you can’t answer it so if we’re taking about who’s got nothing.

Explain to me why USC would freely let him out of his contract. And take off your green glasses.

    And THIS makes sense.

If he can buy his way out of the contract then he should.

If he had no out, then USC should hold onto him as long as possible.

The problem is he can’t interview without quitting and it’s tough to quit unless you have a concrete offer, which you obviously won’t get without interviewing

He runs the risk of paying USC to release him and then winding up in the unemployment line. It’s a gamble.

Kingsbury would be too big a risk for this franchise at this time. Unproven. I don't doubt that he'll eventually make it to the NFL as a HC, but we can't really experiment with Kingsbury now

My point being, if he wanted the freedom to play the field he never should have signed the contract and if he or his agent feels he’s got a better gig available he should do it.

Suggesting USC should just let him out of his contract for shits and giggles because it would be good for him and good business or benevolent on USC’s part is, I will submit, incredibly naive and infantile.
