I won't really care who it is. Hiring Kingsbury would be about the most asinine thing that the Jets could do. They would really be topping themselves in the stupid decisions department if they went out and made this move. The only way Kingsbury would be a success here is if Ditka and the '85 Bears defense came with him and dragged this organization to the Super Bowl on their back.
Kingsbury has never coached a single day in the NFL. He just got fired from Texas Tech. 8 years ago when Mike McCarthy was hoisting the Super Bowl trophy as the winning head coach, Kingsbury was the quarterbacks coach for Houston. Houston Cougars, not Texans. He’s got “swagger” though. And he’s gonna bring in a great DC somehow
I don’t want to turn this into a McCarthy bashing either because I wouldn’t be upset if we hired him but if you’re gonna use the “he was hoisting a SB trophy 8 years ago thing” you can also play it as he only GOT to one SB with the best QB in his conference in 10 years, lost twice to the giants with much better teams and home field and iirc needed a miracle run that super bowl year to even make the playoffs.
Fair point. I guess there is some bias involved in that GB is basically NFL royalty and the Saints were basically the Jets before Payton and Brees arrived. I do think he’ll get #2 this year though.
Only 1 Super Bowl title! and the other candidate hasn’t finished higher than 5th In the freakin Big 12.
The difference is Payton has adapted to this offensive wave the league has seen over the last few seasons.
Kliff Kingsbury sounds like a Chevy Chase, straight-to-DVD character. Does he drive an RV and have a speech impediment?
