Don’t know enough about him but I’d put him firmly behind Monken if we’re going for a first time offensive coach.
Being a Coordinator doesn’t help either in that case. Experience as a player is useful, how you relate to players, help them prepare and motivate them can all stem from that.
They’re fresh out of college, he likely recruited them in some aspect. They’ve seen his offense light it up. What’s not to like from their perspective.? We see things differently as fans but I’m sure Adams and Maye would love a coach who has the team scoring points so they can get aggressive defensively.
I don’t remember him playing either, but if he was a back up on this team everyone thought he was great while he was on the bench.
I don't have a problem hiring another rookie HC. Their success rate is hardly any greater than former HCs. But that said, there's a BIG difference between hiring a successful coordinator with NFL experience...and hiring a guy with a less than stellar head coaching record in college, and has had less than a month of experience as an offensive coordinator in college. While we're at it, at the #3 pick, we should pick an edge rusher whose experience was being a bench warmer on his Pop Warner team in 8th grade.
If we’re gonna try and woo any current college coach it should be David Shaw who also has nfl experience
LSU played Texas Tech in a bowl game in 2015. If Kingsbury was to get this job, I'd want him to bring in an experienced DC like Greg Williams to help him make the transition to the NFL easier.
He had to juggle 10 qbs over 5 years due to injury at TT. Flukey shit with him. He obviously has talent coaching qbs but the way they get hurt around him I’m not sure I want him anywhere around Sam
You guys really...after all these years...still don’t know that being a head coach is a completely different job than running one side of the ball. Kingsbury could be the next great coach in the NFL for all we know.
I really don’t trust what Johnson says in a press conference to be honest . He only put out that tweet denying his interest in Jim Haubaugh after he rejected them. I’m sure the McCarthy interview will result in a little give or take . I bet to secure his signature Chris Johnson would give him more than a limited input in decisions . If it’s McCarthy it’ll wind up being more of a front office tandem between Mac, Hermidinger , and McCarthy.....which should be good news for the anti-Mac crowd.
Mr J it was just stupid for Johnson to make any blanket statements but we will see who the hire,,Im not holding my breath on a high profile guy,,,,,due diligence is one thing but a guy with a crappy or losing college record is quite another
