Gase maybe worth a look. Picking up a retread from Miami of all places seems counterproductive. However, he has done a pretty good job overall keeping that team competitve with Tannehill and an array of backup QB's, and has decent record beating the Pats. Has good HC experience now, good OC experience with Peyton Manning in Denver, and still only 40. Worth an interview at least. Also would consider as an OC..
Brown built the core of the Browns, positioned them to have a boatload of premium draft picks and cap money. Haslems mistake was firing him and keeping Jackson as HC
Gase was pretty bad in Miami. He was supposed to be an offensive genius but Miami was always in the bottom of the league in offense. As far as QBs, Tannerhill didn't improve, he hand picked Cutler and Osweiler. He had full control over player personal and got rid of any player who flashed talent. And never had control of the locker room.
As a side note, I wanted Bowles gone for a while. The team would have probably gotten at least an extra couple wins this year with a better coach. That said, I don't know how much influence Bowles had on player choice and the draft, but Mac and his scouting department has SUCKED. If Bowles had a better team here, it wouldn't have shocked me if he could have at least been a run of the mill average coach rather than complete trash.
Dude sucked ass, I'm not denying that, but the team sucked balls too. It's hard to grow as a coach when you can't even trust your players.
He stared off w a vet team and had to only win one damn game to get into the playoffs. His ceiling wasn't very high from early. Constant timeout challenge and mental issues
I was a drill sergeant for years. Should I send the Jets my resume? I'll bet I can do better than Bowles on using timeouts. No promises on using the challenge flag, though....
Some posters refer to others stating he was professional. At what being a nice guy that people liked. Those comments are like saying Capt. Smith of the Titanic was a great sea captain.... Look the guy was a lousy HC that talked about situational football yet showed absolute no awareness of situational football during games. Indeed, if anything his tenure can be summed up as "ineffective" with respect to game planning, management, player accountability, etc. Good Riddance's PS. the only thing this guy accomplished was continuing the losing culture Rex started and it showed because the players didn't want to play for a loser.... NO MATTER what they stated in support of him.
