Per Ian Rappaport: The Jets have put in a request to interview Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy. Makes a lot of sense, given his success and how the Andy Reid tree has done.
Some additional news on him... he was previously the Chiefs RB coach, and the Vikings RB coach prior.
At least we know that they see the Jets need an offensive mind in the building Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
At the very least, I’m happy we are looking at the Reid tree. 1/3rd of the playoff picture is Reid tree coaches. They are moving in the right direction at least.
I don’t hate it. Could use some more seasoning but I though the same about Anthony Lynn and he is doing ok
Nagy has had success and he was QB coach for 3 years and OC for 2 under Reid. That's 5 years of experience working under one of the best offensive HC's in the game. Bieniemy by the same token has 5 years as RB coach and 1 as OC under Reid and has 2 years experience in college as OC so 3 total years as OC. He's been in the right system under the right HC for the right amount of time to be considered an experienced offensive coach. He could fail miserably but the resume is there and it's refreshing to see them look for an offensive minded HC.
I'd bring in the guy the helped develop Maholmes in a heartbeat. But did Maholmes make him, or did he make Maholmes?
Wouldn't be mad if it were Bienemy. I just want this team to load up on the o-line, sign Leveon Bell, and get a #1 wr, whether that's Mike Evans or someone. This team needs to load up on offense to help Darnold progress. Too often this year he tried to put the team on his back and that's not how you win football games consistently, especially with a 21-22 year old QB.
Mods please merge this thread with the thread that was already created regarding jets HC search - thanks!
Every time I see Eric Bienemy's name I think of Rocket Ismail and the ND-Colorado match ups back in the day. Damn I feel old.
Am I the only one that thinks we need someone with head coaching experience who can help establish a culture?
When I think of Bienemy I think of him as a young buc playing football for Colorado. Looking at pictures of him now I'm like "is that Eric Bienemy's dad?"
