He just did not have the aggressiveness and disciplinary skills to be a head coach. I hope for his sake that he can regroup as a DC somewhere and get a second chance with lessons learned, but he just wasn't ready for the job and was kept for way too long.
What exactly is the basis for this sentiment? I mean, you might be right, but there is absolutely nothing at all based on what you see on TV when the Jets are playing that would lead you to believe he's even on the clock. Unless you hang out around practice and have some inside knowledge, what makes you think he works hard? Certainly not the results. I don't mean to pile on the rabbit when its wounded but, seriously, when is the last time you even saw him talking into his headset? Or chewing out a player? Or actually doing something affirmative other than standing around with his thumb up his ass?
I've been a fan since 98...I'll put him as the worst coach since then with Mangini second. Seems like a really great guy though and tried but was in over his head. Good luck Todd.
Is Cimini drunk? NO WAY Todd is getting coach interviews as anything more than a Rooney Rule requirement.
Since '98 being the key phrase...I'd still have Kotite 1 and Todd 2 as the worst-ever Jet coaches. Maybe Lou Holtz is in that mix but he wasn't here long enough to really matter.
Apparently I am. Johnson and Mac searching for the new HC? Will probably be a case of the blind leading the blind.
It’s pretty well known that Bowles shows up to the team facility at like 4 AM every morning. It doesn’t show up on game days, but the dude works hard at his job.
It. Is. Finished. Praise the Lord. Todd may be a great man off the field, but just didn't have the chops to lead an organization and after reading the Pepper Johnson interview, you have to question his ability to properly understand, scheme, and adjust a consistently high-performing defense (forget offense completely). This chapter is closed, let's get a true HC and see what this team can do with the right leadership.
In the words of Marv Albert...YES!!!!! Kudos to the Jets for not dragging this out. They canned him quicker than Bowles could make an in game adjustment.
Unfortunately there is no way to know if this is true. Todd will never know the reason for being interviewed. Either his ability or because teams have to...
