Now that Jimmy Haslam is fielding a respectable team, the mantle of worst owner is up for the taking. I'd prefer a Super Bowl myself, but maybe Chris Johnson has other ideas.
The Cardinals are reportedly going to fire their first-year coach Steve Wilks, so add that to the list teams (hopefully) competing with the Jets for a replacement for Bowles. They will no doubt try to do exactly what the Jets will do, sell people on the great young quarterback (unlike the Packers, who will try to sell people on the great old quarterback). Unfortunately for the Cardinals, there's a whole lot less evidence of potential greatness in Rosen's year than there is in Darnold's year. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...dump-coach-steve-wilks-after-just-one-season/ Interestingly enough, McCarthy has been linked to the Cardinals since last year, and rumors have again had him interested in the job if it became available. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...pursuing-cardinals-coaching-job-if-available/
QUOTE="forevercursed, post: 3774145, member: 21792"]Yea I can't wait either. Then the race for Harbaugh commences The 2019 offseason, Sam, new uni's, big game hunting for a new coach, draft, tons of UFA money. This is going to be the biggest and wildest offseason maybe ever[/QUOTE] You guys focused on a specific guy are just setting yourselves up for failure. But you know that because...Jets.
The Jets denial of Harbaugh means squat because what team is going to acknowledge interest in another coach when the current one is here and not to mention the bogus Rooney Rule factor in play too and possibly getting a major fine like the Raiders almost got with Gruden. The fans would certainly riot and there will be a ton of empty seats if Bowles is brought back for sure.
Not to mention it shows respect to Harbaugh who leaving or not is trying to prepare his team for a Bowl game & doesnt want/need the media distraction. I just wish they didnt go out of their way to annoint Bowles the HC..posturing or not
NFL.com says the Jets are expected to fire Bowles. Nothing new but someone's going to start a thread with this article. That someone won't be me. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001004916/article/jets-expected-to-fire-head-coach-todd-bowles
Honestly there shouldn’t even be a “Jets fire Todd Bowles” thread. It is the most foregone conclusion in the recent history of this team and everything that could be said has already been covered in here. There will still be one though.
Don't get me wrong, Bowles has his issues. No fire or passion to get your team to finish a game. Blaming refs for an issue that's been a problem all year due to a lack of discipline. Sketchy clock management. No need to keep going, since we are all well aware of the litany of things wrong with him. All that said, I think it makes more sense to let him coach a final season and prove he can win after a rebuild. In a lot of ways he's being screwed. If he gets some players to work with and still loses, axe him and perhaps even macc and they'll at least have somewhat of an attractive product to lure a solid coach. I don't see a whole lot of coaching prospects this year anyway. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
