What's you point? He was injured and wasn't going to play. Hasn't played for weeks. Should the IR designation moved them NOT to sign him? Like it was a shock to them?
Pretty much sums it up..this deal is meh ...veteran guy good attitude...much needed piece for the time being BUT Mac does 3 things well year after year ...overpay overpay and overpay Damned if we keep him paying this much..damned if we let him go since SD has that chemistry there As I posted before, it's hard not to love Quincy but if he's warming the bench or out another entire season this deal is WORTHLESS ANSWER: Go find some comparative young beast in the draft along with upgrading our OL..the future is calling
Too much amorphous whining in this thread. Who exactly would you draft to replace him. After fixing the O line with our 1st round and one of our thirds. Who are you drafting in rounds 3 or later that will be better than Q?
Rollo I hear you but maybe the better question is why was our GM not thinking about this for the past few years ? The other WR's that he actually did draft are not even on the team or in the NFL anymore .
Clearly. But that’s hindsight. This is a forward thinking move. People whining and suggesting we “draft someone” or trade for AJ Green just embarrasses the rest of Jets fandom.
Ya know something Rollo I haven't looked TBH...and it's a fair point you make OTOH the argument can be made that out in FA ...as someone has already ..said ...Quincys odds of getting a high paying nice deal like this for someone who played just 16 games in 4 years is a bit far fetched ...most GMs are not as ditzy with cash as Mac is..other GMs want to know how many games Quincy can play in FIRST
They gave Q a one year prove it deal this year, & I guess they feel his neck is not an issue. The ankle injuries this year are just typical football injuries. You can't say he is injury prone because of a high ankle sprain. If that were the case 90% of the players in the NFL would be considered injury prone
You just parrot what ever derogatory opinions you see. I have never seen an original thought in any of your horrible posts. Over paid? by the time free agency ends q will be around the 30th highest paid receiver in the league. That’s at max contract value. Who doesn’t think he fits right in that slot?
This deal is stupidly reasonable, the people that are whining about this deal are the same ones who whine about every move we make. Just wait and see how much Funchess, Williams, and Tate get in FA.
Actually, they’re just miserable pricks that derive some form of demented satisfaction from infecting others with their misery.
Holy sh*t--what an overpay!! We can qualify for the #3 pick without him--horrible!! Pay Mccown 10mm and now this? Fire Macc
I'm not comparing the players; I'm saying that both contracts were mistakes for different reasons. Wilkerson at least had a Pro Bowl resume, Enunwa is just an average receiver, nothing more. If we want the Jets to be a Super Bowl contender, then we need to upgrade the talent on offense. Giving out overly generous contracts to our own players, like Brian Winters, Wilkerson, etc, or signing other teams players to ridiculous free agent deals, like our current 72 million dollar non-shutdown corner, are hallmarks of this franchise. It needs to stop, otherwise the cycle of being a bad team, then peaking at mediocrity, only to cycle back to being bad, will never be broken.
FOREVER ---I have to say that I am beyond curious to see what those guys get in Free Agency as you and the other guys in this thread can put me in the minority as I like Quincy a lot but I don't think any GM / team out there was going to offer him 9 million. Time will tell and I know we are weak at the position but I think MAC made this deal out of weakness and desperation.
