Do we grade the squad after he has finished his rebuild or after season 2 of it? Currently atm the squad is poor as a whole, not a lot of strength in depth and he needs to nail more than round 1 but saying that we have competed in a lot of games this season so we do have a base to build from, he really can't afford to blow 3rd and 4th's who are gone after a season. I would give him 3 more seasons and a new coach that can do something with the talent on the team and of course the future talent
Hopefully Mac is looking at Taylor at the Pinstripe bowl. At least the next regime can look over his notes in 2020.
So a GM gets 6 years to suck? Wow, talk about setting the bar low. The guy has had 4 years already. I’m on the fence about dumping him but if they decide to start with a clean slate, I would support it.
that's about right, coaches get 2 qbs, gms get 2 coaches. their not firing mac but I couldn't care less if they did.
Dump him. He can't sign free agents, can't draft well and his choice of head coach sucks. It's not like the new GM has to make tough roster decisions. We know who can play and who can't. We have our QB, therefore it is all about hiring the right coaching staff, drafting well and spending that 100 million wisely.
So? Idzik didn't get to choose a head coach either, and I can't imagine you would have given him the opportunity. Of course Mac isn't Idzik, but the choosing a HC argument is weak.
"His choice of head coach sucks." That's what I responded to. The "weak" argument wasn't made by me. This is not about Idzik, WTF are you talking about?
Yeah was just about to post this. Makes no sense to let a guy you’re about to fire make deals days before you would be firing him.
He is not getting fired... his drafting is less then desirable but the this team was devoid of any talent when he was hired.... it in a better place but still has holes. Lets hope he gets his *hit together and makes the next few months worth watching.
I agree on that front. If you are inclined to be in favor of Mac then I bet the deal looks good to you. If you are "anti-Mac" then the signing is probably seen as another reason why the Jets should part ways.
I am neither pro-Mac or anti-Mac--if he stays I wouldn't cry nor would I if he was canned. Having said that, I think it's a perfectly acceptable deal.
