We are the Same Old Jets, and IMO, that's a coaching thing. Rex came the closest to changing that culture, but now we are right back to that identity. We need a coach who can inspire this team to be courageous in the fourth quarter and ball out - not sit back and absorb the other team's will. Darnold is the real deal, but he needs an offensive coach who can take hime to the next level.
https://www.sny.tv/jets/news/to-bre...ust-surround-sam-darnold-with-stars/302180458 "What guy on their team scares you?" said one NFL executive. "Offense or defense, who's the one guy that the opposing coordinator has to worry about and game plan against? There really isn't a guy. Maybe Jamal Adams eventually. But that's the problem. With all the top picks they've had, you think there'd be one guy who really scares you." "They need some studs on both sides of the ball. Game-changers. Stars. What they have is a bunch of guys." And that's where the Jets fall short. No receiver or edge rusher that will draw constant double-teams. No player so good that he can take over one side of the ball on his own. Until they find that, mediocrity is their ceiling. .... what was that case for keeping Mac again?
This. We have a few solid young players, but no one who strikes fear into opposing DC's and OC's. Adams is the closest we have to a game changing player. But I believe Macc is coming back whether we like it or not.
If Harbaugh comes here, they should ask him if he wants to keep Mac. Don't want to create another 49ers debacle. Jed York chose the GM over Harbaugh which led to his departure.
