Right now top 3 McCarthy Shanahan Carmichael. Not buying into harbaughs availability nor do I think he should get full reign. I save that type of control for people with rings. Not in love with any of my top 3. McCarthy brings instant credibility Shanahan, I trust his eye for talent and ability to run a team. Carmichael, I wouldn’t mind some Sean Payton rubbing off on this franchise
Winning a ring comes down to luck as well as skill. So I look at his whole body of work in SF, not how many rings he has. Would you say Eli is better than Marino because Eli has rings and Marino doesn't?
He has a nice record in San Fran. Not the type of resume that garners full control of a franchise though. He’s not the modern Jimmy Johnson, at least jimmy came with ncaa rings. Honestly, he’s getting hyped for not being in the league. A bit of a Gruden effect imo. For me, you have to win championships to get the kind of control he is being offered by many here on the board.
A nice record? He inherited a 6-10 team with Alex Smith who everyone was saying was a bust. In his first year he went 13-3, made it to the NFC Championship game, and lost to the eventual champion Giants in OT because Kyle Williams forgot how to hold onto the football. In his second year he switched to Kap, went 11-4-1, made it to the Super Bowl, and lost by a field goal. In his third year he went 12-4, made it to the NFC Championship game, and lost by a score to the Seahawks who destroyed the Broncos in the Super Bowl. In his fourth year rumors started before the season that Jed York didn't like him. He still went 8-8 with a deteriorating roster. Since he left, the 49ers have employed 3 different coaches and gone 5-11, 2-14, 6-10, and 4-11. That's a fucking amazing record.

Yeah those rumors are kind of convoluted. Stephen Ross the Dolphins owner is a Michigan alum. He has strong financial connections to the university and for that reason does not what Harbaugh to leave even if it was to go to the Dolphins . Strange man and strange organization ....
