Which means unlike cap cash they aren't required to spend it. And billionaires can be cheap too.

    Yes agree!!!

I’m saying that who (besides the sperm lottery winners) gives a f about his contract $$ or length?

Not related to team... at all

    This is not the Mets

Who cares though? It’s not my money and it doesn’t count against the cap.

Maybe it all bullshit because they know he won’t leave, but if they offer him a Gruden like contract, I think it would show the Johnsons want to win.

I so hope it happens. If Harbaugh comes here, we are in the playoffs next year.

It was never about cap cash, it's more about how far would the Johnsons go

This would be franchise altering. With a top 5 pick, over 100 mil cap space and Sam Darnold he’d be set up for instant success and god status in NY.

“It’s not my money” is one of my least favorite opinions for a sports fan to say

Of course it’s not your money, but you have to acknowledge the impact that comes with the owners of the team giving a coach a 10yr/$100M contract.

It ties them up in a ridiculous commitment and makes it unfeasible to fire him if things go wrong.

Say that the Jets give him a 10 year $100M deal and Harbaugh falls flat on his face in his return to the NFL, pissing off everyone in the organization and alienating the fans with his abrasive personality in the process. However, the Jets can’t move on from him and are stuck in a terrible situation because of the insane contract they gave him.

What would you say then? “It’s not my money”?

Does Jim Harbaugh even have a say in this? Isn't he under contract already? Why would Michigan let him go?

He has a buyout. He would have to repay a prorated portion of his signing bonus but he can leave for the NFL if he chooses.

    Smart lawyering.

I can't imagine he won't want total control after what happened in San Francisco.

    Awesome most unexpected news.

Even if we don't get him (I pray we do) it shows that Jets ownership is prepared to make big changes to how they do things.

He wouldn't. He would probably be fired instead and all control given to Harbaugh. I am fine with that.

The best part of this news is, whether he comes here or not, it looks pretty certain that Bowles is actually going to be fired. Of course I'm not going to count on that until it happens, but this is very encouraging.

And I hope that it is true and that Harbaugh accepts. If he does, that should also mean that either Macc is gone too, or Harbaugh will be given control over him as far as personnel goes.

Agree--you again hit the nail on the head. Harbaugh would not take the job unless he call the shots on everything. If Harbaugh comes to the jets, MacCagnan will either be gone or bringing Harbaugh coffee.

That's what seemingly everyone in the media believed about Brett coming hete too.

Only Harbaugh knows what he wants to do right now.

I think he belongs in the pros HERE. :)

If I was a Head Coach, I would love to have Sam Darnold as my QB. He is going to attract a high quality Head Coach. I fully believe that. The Johnsons just need to do their best not to mess it up.
