I always thought that Schwartz was pretty fiery.

I have been away from this forum most of the year because of the coach obsession. When Darnold gets more weapons and they add a pass rusher etc. they will be a much better club regardless of who is coaching. But the NFL officiating is just awful. This afternoon's spectacle was a disgrace and I'm really glad Bowles called them out. As a ex-player he is entitled to state his case. When the veteran QB gets to spends so much time talking to the refs. and his club profits from call after call you have to wonder. The defense had no chance to make a play. It's a physical game not two hand touch.

This text just in from my rabid Jets fan friend, Vinnie:

"Seven days to Black Monday. Farewell Mr. Bowles, it's been real. Kindly hand me your key pass to the building, empty out your office, and get the fuck off the property. Happy New Year."

Time was a coach worth a shit would be in the refs grill all game lobbying for calls, make-up calls, etc. You think Bowles commands any kind of respect from the refs?
The next time I see that loser moving his lips about anything on the sideline will be the first.

With all due respect to the aaaaaaaaaaaa HC, try teaching your players to keep their collective heads in the game. Its called situational football , you know because over the years you have mentioned it. To blame the refs is LOL funny. The hall mark of you pathetic tenure as a HC is that your teams (each one you have coached) were all undisciplined.

Like your predecessor you were promoted into a position where your "not competent" enough to perform the functions required for the job, i.e., Peter's Principle.

The funny thing is that coaching is actually a field in which you can avoid the Peter Principle, yet it rears its ugly head anyway. The problem that causes the Peter Principle situation is that in most hierarchical organizations promotion is viewed as inevitable - if you're offered a promotion it's viewed as bad form to turn it down, and if you stay at one level long enough that's viewed as problematic. That's not true in coaching. A great high school coach can turn down an offer at a college and no one views that negatively. A great college coach can turn down a job in the NFL and no one views that negatively. A great coordinator can make clear that they don't want to be considered as a head coach and no one thinks they should be forced to do so or they're a "bad employee" (think of people like Westhoff). It often becomes a matter of overreaching, rather than being pulled upwards, but just as in the Peter Principle case it's difficult to go back down to where you belong after being let go because of general perceptions (and of course ego).

Dead coach walking. Like an article, I just read they need a culture change on the Jets. They are so scared when they have a lead they punk out and blow the game. That is another reason why Bowels needs to go. Coaches scared and have no killer instinct. The few things to watch the Jets is the final game, the firing of Bowles and who is replacing him. The other wrinkle is if they fire Maccagnan.

These last couple of games. Bowles has finally tried to be different. A couple 4th down attempts a fake punt. Too bad it’s all too little too late

Yep, this team should of won 3 more games if the coaches don’t get conservative when they have the lead late. Far too often do they feel like any lead is safe in the 4th quarter and just try to run the ball and punt away just to watch the defense blow it. Bates and Bowles can’t be gone soon enough and I honestly hope for Bowles sake, just let him go early. There is no point to let him coach this last game if firing him is inevitable. Show the guy some respect and don’t give him false hope. He has been a part of 4 years here so don’t draw it out.

    Four years of misery!!!!

You nailed it here..if it were the 1980s TBs football philosophy might have drawn some kind of pass...but he got reamed by superior offensive thinking and outcoached

It's like the junk defended by Solidgoldbowles and DefWinschampionship ..

Like the Geno supporters won't miss hearing people spout that sh&at ahahahahahah

Yep...let him go now Johnsons ...the New Years party plans can wait for Gods sake

I did manage to watch from 6:42 to the finish of the game today. You know, the point in the game when it was 35-20 and the shit turned into the Heidi Game Part II. Dr. Smith will do:

Skrine, I don't want to see him or that octopus on his head again.

You're right too late and smacks of desperation. But still too much of the soft defense, bland offensive schemes and lack of urgency. Bowles is defensive coordinator material, not head coach material.

Maybe I'm being a bad person, but this actually excites me. He's been handsomely so I don't feel bad that he's getting fired, but I really can't wait.

Yea I can't wait either. Then the race for Harbaugh commences

The 2019 offseason, Sam, new uni's, big game hunting for a new coach, draft, tons of UFA money. This is going to be the biggest and wildest offseason maybe ever

2009 into 2010, playoffs, huge expectations, Hard Knocks, Sanchez, Rex feeling his oats--that was a great offseason.

    True yes.

Though to this day I look back to (starting with just before the Rex years) 2008-2012 and it's just lingering unfinished business

I took a lot for granted those years. Spoiled even. Revis shutting down a player every week. Mangold and D-Brick never missing time and being dominant. Running the ball on everyone.

Don't forget that Chris Johnson said he is committed to the rebuild and was not going to judge Bowles by win/loss record. This past season was a developmental year and expectations were low aside from showing progress developing the youth, and that definitely happened with Darnold, Herndon, Adams, Edwards, McGuire and others.

I hate to say it but there is still an extremely slim chance that Bowles gets one final year to prove himself. I don't agree with that or think it's likely, but those recent Vegas odds and Jets denial about Harbaugh have me wondering. The fans would absolutely riot but I could see Johnson using that rationale.
