Very strange, why go from one mid of the pack ACC program to another? especially when BC has the makings of a very good team in the immediate future while NC State does not.

Not from my point of view: Boston's a crap hole, Raleigh, NC is much nicer..

I think NC State blew it. I don't think O'brien is a very good coach and NC State has a good recruiting base with no instate schools to really compete with. I do think NC State also has the better future team with those two running backs.

Man the ACC is screwey this year. NC State, Miami, UNC, BC all looking or looked for new coaches and FSU should too.

It had to do with money. O'Brien felt he was vastly underpaid. NC State offered him more cash.

It was strange because I found a lot of parallels here to the Herm situation. O'Brien was a good but not great coach who the fan base for some reason reviled as terrible despite good results. He employed a mind-bogglingly conservative offensive coordinator in Dana Bible, and ended up leaving because he was unhappy with a scant contract.
