Allen didn’t get much help from his receivers and down to his 4th string RB but got the W and it was basically all him on offense for the 4th week in a row. He stayed in the pocket and made some good throws........his recievers let him down this game. Please cut Charles Clay.......he adds nothing to this offense and is severely overpaid!
Another game, another quality showing for the AFCE rookie QBs. Wont it be nice for their respective teams to go into the offseason optimistic about next year? Good stuff!!
I say the Gobi Dessert without any water. Runner up: The Frozen Steppes of Siberia without any clothes.
My prediction is that Darnold and Allen will ultimately be the best 2 QB's of this draft. Despite each of them being on shitty teams, they still have the most upside. I love the way Allen can extend plays, and pickup first downs with his legs, but he does need to learn how to take less big hits if he's going to reach full potential. I also think Mayfield will be good, and better out of the gate, but will eventually be passed by those other two. Rosen will be a bust. Jackson is a wildcard, but I'm not sold yet. Lauletta looked horrendous in limited action as well.
Better you guys then the Dolphins or Patriots. I'll take Allen being decent. I hate the Fins and Patriots far more.
Yeah you may be right on that. We won't get a good look at Webb until next preseason, but would be great if he could be a viable backup for us. Saves a draft pick down the line. And would be great to have outsmarted Gettleman twice at QB in same offseason.
I think Mayfield and Darnold will be the best 2 QBs. Mayfield is already a league average QB, so if he improves at all, he's going to be top half with elite potential. Darnold isn't there yet, but I liked him the best before the draft, and if we get the right coach and improve his supporting cast, I expect a big jump in year 2. At this point, Darnold's ceiling is elite, but his floor is lower than Mayfield's because he hasn't proven he isn't a bust yet. Allen and Jackson's style isn't sustainable, so the question is whether they can stop running so much. Given Jackson's better supporting cast, I'm more impressed with Allen. But I feel like one of those two is going to be good and other will be a bust. And I'm not sure which is which. Rosen's supporting cast is terrible (Cardinals fans have every right to make the same excuses we do for Darnold), but Rosen is already polished and he doesn't have the mobility the other QBs do. Plus unlike the other guys he doesn't seem to inspire his teammates at all, so Cardinals fans should be concerned about him. Lauletta's sample size is too small to make any conclusions, but he and Mason Rudolph weren't drafted to be the future of their teams, so it doesn't matter that much.
I got Darnold and Mayfield being the two best QBs from this draft, Rosen being a solid starter and Allen flopping hard. Jackson... I have no idea what to make of him yet. The style isn't sustainable but he at least showed the ability to play QB in college. Allen never has. I know there's a poster here that throws away any reference to completion percentage, but the guy has been a terrible passer for going on three years now. That's not going to change overnight. Maybe Buffalo can mask all of his shortcomings but I trust the Bills less than I trust the Jets, and that's saying something. I'm shocked by Rosen honestly. I thought he had the personality to come on, take over a team and be the alpha right off the bat. I thought Mayfield was going to be the best QB from jump but Rosen would be able to will his way to being a successful rookie. He's looked flat out bad. And he's got more talent around him than Sam (not hard to do, I know). I still think he will turn it around though. I'll echo the sentiment... Baker is older and has more experience, he SHOULD be the best QB so far. But I think Sam has been close and especially after the last two weeks. I think Sam and Baker are going to be very good for a long time and will be at the forefront of this era of new QBs with Mahomes, Goff, etc. I'm happy we finally have one of them.

Still rushed 9x, but didnt get that big rushing total and the story is he didnt run as much and did everything with his arm. In prior weeks that 9 rushes was good for 100+ and they say he ran too much. As ive said earlier, perspective. So, people are saying that was Allens best game. Does 13/26 tell the whole story? Well, going into the 4th qtr he was at around 70 pct. Then, he threw a few balls away being careful, and had 2 HUGE drops (another 80-100 yrds right off the board) and in the end is at 50% completion. Now, how in the world is that in ANYWAY an indication if he was accurate or not? Im not the person you were speaking about - but when you break it down and how the game played out you have Matt Stafford going 22/29 for 208 and 1 td. 4 yds difference in passing, but Allen was at 50%, avg 11 yrds per completion and got the win but stafford was at 75% with no drops and a much shorter yrd per attmpt. By no means was Allen's game perfect, but this narrative of being inaccurate bc of a low comp % is stale. You say he showed nothing at Wyoming, fine. But then by that lodgic, he should be a total clown show in the NFL. He has held his own and become essentially a 1 man show on a team in the NFL. I think that means he belongs, no? I get it, people are sold one way or another on the guy but at least if you wanna dog the kid have a fresh and current reason to do so. The narrative you are pushing is the same one that the pundits that were negative on him had prior to the draft. Things change lol! I also get the wanting a division rival to zonk on their qb. Over on the Bills board plenty of people love Allen and think Sam will bust OR at least want him too. I expect a portion of Jets fans feel the same and totally get it. Im in Jets country. Sure there is some homerism to my posts, but i really do try and keep it objective and have been and am high/positive on Sam. No reason not to be other than simply not being able to keep my fanatical interests in check. Its why i enjoy discussion here re: qbs. The Bills board is slanted with 90% in love w the kid and 10% hate him but either way its tough to have an objective convo
Like I try to say the other five times this was brought up, I’m well aware you need to account for drops, throwaways, desperation heaves, etc. I guess my question is what QB in the current era completed 56% of their passes (or even under 60%) in college, came into the league and completed 52% of their passes (or even under 55%) and then went on to be a legitimate starting QB? There’s close to no precedent here. So either Allen is the unluckiest QB of all time with bad teammates and game situations... or he’s just not a good QB.
I have to admit Allen has looked a little better than I thought he would. He's had some head-scratching moments as well, but I also didn't expect him to be this big a threat with his legs either. Granted you don't want him to do this as often in the future because he'll get hurt, but as of now if nobody is open, and you have 10+ free yards in front of you might as well take off. But he has not looked totally out of it and out of place in the NFL. He belongs Everybody knew he'd be a project, but he's also a smart kid. Tested well. So maybe he works through a lot of those issues he had at Wyoming regarding pre snap reads etc. and becomes a fairly competent gunslinger who will still give you the odd bad throw pick. That's fine as long as he continues to make massive plays with his arm I think the Bills are probably going to try and mold him into their Mahomes. We'll see how it goes
Meanwhile the Giants fans are still somewhat debating if they should've taken a QB. Though most seem pleased with Barkley...but what the heck did this year give them? RB's shelf lives are short and the get banged up all the time. You just burned a year of him. An outstanding year but what did it get you? 5-11 at worst. 7-9 at best And if you have no QB of the future it won't matter shit what Barkley does next year. Clock is ticking on him. What if he has 3-4 peak seasons and then becomes ordinary? Plus their HC is a Bowles level dope and they're bringing him back They are so so screwed going forward. That franchise has totally lost their way
