The fact is that outside of Herbert (who is no guarantee to go top 5) the only team that would pick him would be the Raiders (who wouldn't have to trade up with either the Cards or Niners who have QBs) and maybe the Giants (who will NEVER be orchestrating a trade with the Jets--see: last year). The rest of the 2019 draft's top 7-10 (if you follow college football) is chock-full of elite defensive talent. Assuming the Raiders pick Nick Bosa, the rest of the top 5 are can't miss defensive beasts. To say that a #3 pick is more desireable than a #5 pick is and was not the point: a #3 pick vs. a #5 pick is not the "life or death" end of the world when it comes to the great teams, particularly the upcoming 2019 draft. If it's the be all and end all, then the problem's the scouting/GM. The Jets will be picking top 5 and they will probably be picking a defensive pass rush beast (Ferrell, Allen) unless they take a stab at Jonah Williams (whom I'd be mildly surprised to see go top 5). Btw, who here was the one who referred to Sam Darnold as a fraud? Eh, who's the dense one here?.
The big ones are Arizona, Oakland, and San Francisco, since the Jets have the tiebreaker with all of them. They're the teams that the Jets need to win.
Niners are certainly not playing for the tank today - they're fired up. Of course, they hate the Seahawks as much as the Jets hate the Pats.
