Yesterday he played very well against a very good Texans D and got praises from JJ Watt himself. Give this guy a decent HC who knows what he is doing in Offense and let him dominate AFC East for 15 years.
We need to make sure the next appointments at OC and HC are 100% correct and then we may well have some sort of future
Agreed, for Darnold to play this well with no real talent around him and no good coaching to me shows he will be great.
I gotta say I groaned and almost starting bleeding internally from stress with that RTP call (when they showed the sandwich/late hit in slow motion, I mean). Did not like the way Darnold's body bent like an accordion. Nope, not at all. I think he's doing extremely well given the crappy chit that's around him but I get starry-eyed just thinking about what an even fair to decent supporting cast will do for him. Don't F it up Jets, and hopefully the Brothers Idiot stay out of the management/HC process. Way too much to ask for though, huh.
I saw a twitter post with audio. If I didn't hear wrong Watt tells Darnold he will be a hell of a player. If somebody can find the twitter feed I would appreciate it. I looked and couldn't find.
I agree and the impact to the back of his head when he fell backwards scared the hell out of me. There’s a serious price to pay to be a professional football player.
The future is bright. Get him a better play caller, bell, tyrell Williams and upgrade the line a bit and we are in business.
I'll give you some sort of future with this team. That's me in the barrel. Here's some fans trying to beat traffic getting out of The New Dump.
Highlights: How could anyone not be happy with this? EDIT: Pay close attention to the pass to Anderson at :28. Guy on the Jets sideline takes a fall, footballs go flying, it's very slapstick, hahaha. It got better every time I watched it. It doesn't take much to entertain me.
But how freaking tough is he? He took a coupe of really really hard shots, got back up, went to the huddle and kept playing. He’s a pretty big, solid dude. I know freak injuries can happen but I’m feeling better and better about him from a physical standpoint. And he’s only 21 and is still probably filling out and getting stronger. Still can’t believe we got him.
Wrong thread for this I know, but Clowney staying healthy this year is going to get him a massive contract, but that doesn’t make his injury issues disappear. He still the same guy underneath it all and although he’s been fantastic, I am skeptical. But just to bring it back on topic, yes, Sam had been fantastic the last two weeks making throws that we haven’t seen a Jets quarterback confidently make since… Vinny?
This was the game Jet fans have been hoping for in December ... Sam played fantastic and we didn’t hurt our draft position
What is great is we are seeing Sam develop his NFL identity now. He has slowed the game down and is playing by instinct, and expending his talent. This is best shown in his pocket presence and footwork. His reads are smoother and I really loved seeing him run for positive yards when they leave that open. Hopefully we are now seeing what the real Sam Darnold is going to be like in the NFL. I gotta say it, sometimes rookies QBs have to watch from the sidelines, in a low pressure environment, to learn and discover who they are and what they can be. Then, when they return, they evolve. IMO that is exactly what is happening with Sam. This is a good day folks.
