He’s been such a disappointment. I went into this year thinking he was going to be a huge key to Sam’s development. He’s been the opposite. Great game from Sam. He was getting no help from anyone around him, coaching staff included, and we were still only a terrible defensive possession away from beating a team we had no business beating. He’s making plays, plays aren’t being made for him. There’s a big difference. He’s the real deal. It’s up to the front office to not fuck this up.
There's only two more games left, but I think the jets have a legit chance at being the first team to be penalized on every down of a professional football game. The front office should offer it as an opportunity to PSL holders ... "For $30k, we'll sign you for next week's game and you can come in and block Clay Matthews in the back on a key 3rd and 9."
Got back from the game a little while ago. Sam showed really well tonight. Decision making, quick reads, nice touch and good command in the pocket all game. He needs more weapons, as simple as that.
Sam played great. The defense played great at times, but blew some big pass coverage plays. Robbie Anderson's best game so far, even if he did miss a couple. As for the coaching... Again with the shitty and predictable play calling. Did I mention too conservative? The Jets could've won this game with even have competent coaching, And WTF was Bowles doing instead of throwing the challenge flag on that 3rd down run that clearly was a 1st down??? Maybe the refs would've upheld the ruling on the field anyway since they were obviously doing everything they could to make sure Houston won, but still. Was Bowles even awake on the sidelines? He should've been fired right on the field for that.
The bold in my opinion exemplifies how absolutely clueless our coaching staff is. That was so freaking obvious. Yet here we go beating the lack of talent drum while we had at least 4 if not more absolutely winnable games that we manage to blow due to pathetic penalties, lack of discipline and just poor play calling. Oh, never mind, changes are coming, I hope.
I've been very against signing Laveon Bell this offseason but Sam needs weapons...that's very telling. He's trying to make plays that are too brilliant for the talent we have. Trying to point and re-direct a route on the run...he's being very creative outside of the pocket. Where are we gonna get this guy playmakers? FA is very shallow at WR, we don't have a ton of draft capital to trade, and our top pick might be a pass rusher. Idk...Laveon is sounding like a viable option at this point....he's just so damn expensive for a RB.
The only major takeaway from the game that matters is that Shoe Booty looked great and he didn't get wheeled out on a stretcher. I also think that Bowles officially signed his own death warrant. The Jets FO can in no way justify retaining him. If Sam continues to look good the next two games, the season was in no way a washout. I can't say that I've ever actually felt happy about a shit season. It's a first.
More weapons needed asap. Another reason Mac needs to be sent packing with Bowles. He's failed miserably in giving the young QB the talent he needs around him to thrive.
Do we need more and better weapons....yes. Was that the cause for yet another loss yesterday?. Hell no. Game after game, year after year, we continue to make bone head mistakes and penalties no matter who the player is. And then TB stands up and tell us that our players played hard but the mistakes killed us. Yet in his tenure, the CS has not done fuck all about fixing that problem. so no matter who you add, under this regime, it will be ultra hard for him to excel until we get a CS that puts everyone on the same sheet of music. Fix the real problem first, and then lets find out where the weak links are.
Eh Robby was the only one that really helped in the WR corps, plus if the ball didn't get tipped, it may have been a completion.
Look at it this way, not only do we have a fuck ton of cap space, but we also have a three year window we’re it looks like we will be paying a damn good QB a very small salary by NFL standards. If you pay bell get him all is guaranteed money in the first three years so it’s easy to walk away if he starts to decline or you need money to pay Sam.
Let me ask this question = how many plays should our POS head coach of challenged yesterday ? IMO there were at least 2 plays but the one that really amazed me was the spot on the Hopkins catch that clearly looked short of a first down to me but Bowels and company did not challenge it. You guys have any others that stand out ? Only 2 more weeks of Bowels and he is gone "CANT WAIT "
True. Darnold is throwing to a bunch of nobodies. Anderson and Herndon are his options. Most football fans would say “who”? And rightfully so. Give the kid credit, he’s doing his best to make lemonade.
Sure the coaching is lacking and the weapons are lacking as well. Clean house completely and upgrade across the board.
