Everyone thinks Jim is the offensive genius. When they went head to head in the SB SF had the better D and the more explosive O and John's team outscored them in a high scoring offensive dual with a good not great QB. John Harbaugh is a really good NFL Head Coach. I think the Ravens would be insane to get rid of him. It's not the sexy new guy but it's a solid pick and the Jets could use a proven NFL Head Coach to get instant cred with a young team.
Look at coordinators and coordinators only. With the news of Mac being in charge of hiring the coach and the coach reporting to him the coordinator first time HC route will be the route we go. Sure hope he gets it right.
Joe Walton's long lost child. Nose-picking was already mentioned in the beginning of the thread, but I love keeping that memory alive. It dulls the pain.
@Brook! Any way you guys can change the poll to include McCarthy? If so, I'd drop Shaw because he has the fewest votes.
Thanks! One more favor, would you mind please changing the title to what's below so we can get a better idea of how many people want McCarthy? POLL: Your choice of coach (McCarthy now included, votes can be changed)
I'm not high on the idea of the Jets hiring McCarthy or (John) Harbaugh. If McCarthy couldn't make it work with Rodgers come on now. Also their defense hasn't been too good. That team should"ve won a lot more than it has with Rodgers at QB. Flacco has underachieved after winning the Super Bowl and getting that big contract. The Jets need a head coach that has consistantly proven he can work well with QBs any QB he has on his team. Any type of situation. To me that's Jim Harbaugh. If they can't get him I think another EXCELLENT, VERY UNDERRATED head coach is Ron Rivera. He's worked well with Newton, his teams play defense etc. I don't know what the situation in Carolina is I do know they have or will have new ownership after Richardson was forced to sell. His job can't be all that secure. I'd keep a eye on that if I were running the Jets.
This is likely what they will do, but not what they should do. Macc clearly needs somebody who has a lot of experience being a HC and knowing how to pick players and use them. Putting an inexperienced coordinator under his direction is just having the blind lead the blind.
I'll say this, if the Ravens are stupid enough to let John Harbaugh go, we should more than seriously consider bringing him in. He is smart, even kealed, disciplined and well organized. Let him pick an innovative OC and a no shit DC. He should also be an integral part in helping the GM add the critical pieces on both sides to fit his schemes. A change of venue for JH would be a God send for both parties.
I want no part of Rivera. So you don't like John H because Flacco has under achieved, but Rivera over achieved with Cam. Not that I can see.
General comments like the bolded above are silly. How should the team have won a lot more when their defense hasn't been good, and how is that McCarthy's fault? One can fault McCarthy for an old-fashioned and predictable offense and for his in-game decisions, but not for moves the GM did or didn't make. They haven't done a good job in the draft in the last 3-5 years, have let some of their good players walk away in FA and haven't brought in outside FAs until this year. They've also suffered a lot of injuries to key players. Flacco has not underachieved. He wasn't that good a QB prospect anyway. If anything, he overachieved for a year or two and then reverted to form. Ron Rivera is NOT an excellent HC. I've seen his handling of the Panthers firsthand. While he's light years better than Bowles and is more aggressive, either Harbaugh is better and McCarthy may be as well. I'd take Rivera over yet another novice HC or instead of Josh McDaniel. I might even prefer Toub over RIvera even if he would be a novice HC. At least he has a lot of experience and has been around long enough that he wouldn't be as clueless as these young coordinators.
FOX just reported Jets FO soured on Bowles. He may not last whole season. May be fired today with ugly loss.
Like I said in this thread, Jim Harbaugh isn't coming here and he just reaffirmed his long-term commitment to Michigan... http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...s-nfl-coaching-jobs-emphasizes-big-plans-here You can remove his name from this poll.
