For a “classy” organization like the packers that was certainly classless

Yup I’ve been saying it for weeks. It was a benching not an injury. Now that he’s assured a losing season, he will play the rookie

Great post. Yes it’s a complete circus. I believe it was number 2 on your list. I’m glad it back fired on his dumbass and Mcclown went 0-3

#2 & 3 have to be it. The claim was he didn't have enough rep's in practice.....doesn't that also fall on Bowles?

To me Bowles was trying to save his job and Darnold was odd one out. I wonder though, did Chris Johnson and Maccagnan agree to this? Or are they just as dumb?

How many reps does a QB need to continuously settle for field goals though? And if Darnold is healthy, why wasn't he given more reps in practice?

Bowles made the right call not playing Darnold.
Most players are competitive and want to play, ( except for Macs free agent choices)
Fans look at the game much differently than coaches and FOs. We tend to look at a much smaller picture as fans.
This is a lost season. Many only want to see Sam out there playing to give the game some meaning for them.
Bowles made a selfless call by sitting Darnold. The rookie QB card would be easier to play as an excuse for his team losing. He's a bad coach, but not a bad guy.
AJ Green wanted to play, the coaching staff allowed it in hopes of getting a win to save their ass and now his minor foot injury requires season ending surgery.
The team staked their near future on Darnold and fans are bitching that he sat. A raw, just 21 year old Rookie QB who was slumping pre injury with limited reps was not winning that game and there was zero benefits for him as an individual to play. He said he was 100 % last week too but had soreness and swelling after limited practice. What would you be saying if Darnold reinjured his foot in a meaningless game Sunday.
For the next 50 years it would be Darnold, the best QB to ever play the game was ruined by Todd Bowles because he wanted to save his job.

Excellent post and I couldn't agree more; but the REAL right call was not playing him until now - if at all this season (IMO). Now that it's over and done with, I guess we can all say he got some on-field NFL experience, but to me the risk vs. reward was fragile and inadvisable at best (OL). I was terrified he was going to get murdered, but the team fell apart with or without him in the end. Onward and forward. Or in the Jets case, probably sideways and assbackwards.

I'm fine waiting until the end of the season. Don't get cute with this.

I've seen how this song and dance ends:

    1. Todd Bowles fired mid-week.
    2. Interim Coach hired
    3. Jets play inspired, win a few games, win some fans back
    4. With a renewed confidence, Jets retain interim head coach as well as Mac.
    5. Everything falls apart again next year, because there isnt a ton of talent on the team.
    6. Jets clean house

I'm a pessimist at this point, but dont waste another year.

I'm on record saying Sam should sit untill week 9 but he did face some of the leagues best defenses over the first 8 weeks and regardless of his performance, those reps should be valuable to him going forward.
Even with the bad o line play, the two injuries he had we're minor and not due to the line. His elbow was injured making a tackle on an interception and the foot was a noncontact injury due to a dangerous field. The game probably should have been moved after the Canes game Sat left it in such bad condition. Had one of the high scoring offenseive teams been scheduled to play there it would have been , much like the Rams vs Chiefs game was.

He thought he could win a few games in a row with Mcclown and get an extension like he did last year.

The future of this organization be dammed.

Glad it backfired. Fuck him he should’ve been fired already

While that might be true, it doesn't excuse Macc from his draft misses in rounds 2-4. I'd like a new GM like Eliot Wolf and let him hire the next HC.

If they are going to commit to Mac or bring in an experienced former gm it’s the right way to go with that chain of command. When they brought in mac I had no problems with the way it was structured. You don’t want a guy with little experience making the call on the coach.
Mac is an interesting case. If they keep him they can’t half ass it. If they think they can just go one more year with him we are going to end up in another Rex/idzic fiasco.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Mehta doesn't give two shits about the Jets. If you're willing to give him quotes (Fitz, Sheldon), he writes nice things about you. If not, he trashes you (Mo, Doug Marrone). Mac is a terrible GM, but he's been smart enough to kiss up to Mehta, and this is his reward.

You have to get rid of Mac. The Johnsons need to get their heads out of their asses and do this the right way. Mac's track record is awful and his presence after this season will lead to nothing but more problems.

  19. Can we just get some clean lines for once w this ownership?

From Bellicheat to Groh to Herm..Bradway demotion/tannenbaum promotion..Idzik w Rex as the accessory which caused the Bowles/Mac arranged marriage.

We havent had a clean chain of command w stability since basicallly the Johnson’s took over. Its like they completely outsmart themselves w cluelessness & do the “hard wrong” over the “easy right” repeatedly.

Just hire a damn Vp of football ops & be done w it!
