What would Bridgewater be worth today, Washington, Frisco, Ravens Bears.

Absolutely nothing, since the trade deadline passed weeks ago.

He would have been worth a ton to Jacksonville on trade deadline day.

Didn't the jets offer Bridgewater straight up for Fowler and they declined?

Looks like Jacksonville should have taken that deal and ran with it as Fowler is a free agent at seasons end, and Bortles is just flat out bad.

But Mac, the personnel genius, had $10 million wrapped up in a worthless McCown and had to get rid of Bridgewater before he was guaranteed any money. Maybe he was hoping McCown would have some trade value.

Today we’d be counting down the days til he walks for nothing, possibly to the other locker room at Met Life.

The Bridgewater signing and trade is a positive check mark for Mac.

As the year unravels and I think Mac should go he did the best he could with Bridgewater and it is a positive. I would've liked more. We all would've but if we waited would we have gotten more. Probably but as someone said the Jags turned us down. We got the best we could at the right time. Today he'd be worth at least a second but the trade deadline is way passed now.

He is worth today as much as Leveon Bell is worth today.

That of course can still happen. It will be interesting to see how the market for Bridgewater develops, since teams know nothing more about his viability as a long-term starter now than they did in August.

If Bridgewater goes to the Giants and becomes/reverts to being a star, and Darnold doesn't pan out, the Jets are going to be trashed in the New York media for it for many years. That's especially true if Barkley also stays healthy and effective.

Why is it the incompetent always believe they are the smartest guy in the room?

That statement covers this thread, our front office, our coaching staff, and our ownership.

Cognitive bias in general (all of the Kahneman and Tversky stuff) is lots of fun. It's not as simple as it sounds, of course (Dunning-Kruger is a good example of that), but it's remarkable how well cognitive bias explains mind-blowing stupidity in the world.

Sure although it will be revisionist history as Mac was pretty much universally lauded for his handling of Bridgewater.

The same can also be said for the Giants. If Darnold goes on to being a star, the Giants are going to be trashed in the New York media for it for many years.

I am very interested to see what happens with Bridgewater this coming offseason and will certainly be following him. Will be hoping he doesn’t go to Giants but would probably make them the odds on favorite.

IDK if they will be trashed for it, which I think of meaning to be criticized — deferring to your top 3 drafted QB is the expected move. At the risk of a semantic debate, they will certainly be mocked for it.

Jets have a FQB that needs to be developed by a good offensive minded HC and CS.

Backup QB is not a priority for this team.

No, I I think I mean trashed for it, because they could have kept Bridgewater and solved their QB problem and drafted someone other than Darnold. I believe that MacCagnan will be criticized for picking wrong between the two. As was noted above, if the Giants don't solve their QB problem this offseason and Darnold, Rosen, or Allen become stars they'll get trashed for that. I'm not saying it's warranted, but I believe it's going to happen.

Of course, they'll get mocked for it too.

Anyone who would criticize the Jets for going with drafting Darnold instead of seeing what Bridgewater is capable of should thank their surgeon because their lobotomy was a success. They will certainly be worthy of mockery if it turns out to be the wrong call.
