Rodgers is over paid, he's in decline and he can get you fired. Green Bay is a mediocre town with horrendous weather with little to offer a family compared to the New York area. It's one of the crappiest jobs in the league. I think you're right the GM situation is a possible red flag for someone who either wants control or to be part of a GM/HC situation where they are at least on the same page.
The only way to avoid a lame duck situation is to extend Maccagnan, who frankly, doesn't deserve it. So a coach may look at Maccagnan and say, even with an extension, is he safe if we have a have a 6-10 season next year? I'm interested to see what the Johnson's decide to do because as it stands, we find ourselves in position where a wrong decision may set us back even further.
I disagree. The Cardinals are arguable the worst team in the league; to lose to them reflects an absolute lack of coaching credibility. We all knew he was getting fired but McCarthy’s own results expedited that process. No need for the Pack to dance around it any longer than need be.
Yeah, it does send a clear message: losing isn't acceptable. The same message that should be sent today at the soonest to Bowles.
It's too late. That message should've been sent a long time ago. Losing HAS become acceptable with these players and Bowles will finish out the year
Rodgers is a HOF QB who's very much elite. We should hope Darnold gets anywhere near the level Rodgers is currently playing at.
Completely agree. The entire tenure of Bowles has been one of accepting losses. DO they LIKE to lose? Of course not. But Bowles's catatonic response to loss sends a message: "Well, no reason to panic. We'll get 'em next time, We just have to execute better...blah, blah, blah". News Flash Todd: YOU SHOULD PANIC! I'm not saying you need to throw chairs and equipment or foam at the mouth, but you bench players who don't put out the effort or who make the same mistakes over and over. And by "benching" I don't mean for an entire game or season necessarily, you do it incrementally until the player gets the message and changes - or you realize he can't do better and then you sit him permanently or cut him. You don't tolerate poor behavior and habits and don't allow them to become distractions as Bowles did repeatedly. This is a team that senses no urgency about winning and that comes from Bowles, and really it's worse because it comes from the Johnson Boys who are just happy to own an ATM in the NFL.
Looks like he read your post http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...d-bowles-fuming-after-dumb-mistakes-cost-jets Too little to late... Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Well he should take his own advice and look in the mirror then. He's allowed a culture of accepting poor play, mistakes, and losing his entire time here. And regardless of what Adams says it IS the coaching. When they consistently allow lousy play to continue, that's on the coaching. And as I said, it's also on management who continue to allow the lousy coaching to continue - and even EXTEND it!
whatttt??? lol Green Bay will be the top job on the market for any coach to consider. Certainly above our mess here in N.Y.
I couldn't put it better myself! And another thing - when Bowles is gone the truth will out - the players will spill the beans about the quality of the coaching and game planning. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
That's not the only way to avoid a lame duck situation. The other (and better imo) way is to fire Mac. Then let the new GM hire the HC.
Why does that make the job attractive. Rodgers is in decline. He's been injured 2 years in a row. He's cap hit the next 3 years are 26.5, 32.6 and 33.5 million per. He can be cut in 2022 leaving a dead cap hit of 25.5 million. This will be year 2 of no playoffs. The Green Bay job is dependent on winning with a declining roster and a declining QB. Anything less than a division title and advancement in the playoffs will be considered a poor job. The Jets job is much more attractive based on the potential for the team, developing a QB who could be on the rise for the next 5 years and have 8 to 10 peak years. A sustainable cap and that's without living in Green Bay. That's without the fact that Brady is near the end which opens up the division and the expectations of the fan base.
Someone should remind Adams that more than one thing can be true. It is the fault of the players ... and the fault of the coaching staff ... and the fault of management/scouting ... and the fault of ownership. There's more than enough blame to go around.
You can argue coaching all you want. The Jets talent on the O side of the ball is atrocious and has been. That doesn't mean you don't fire the coach. How you don't fire the GM who could have drafted either Mahomes or Watson without trading up when we were desperate for a QB is amazing to me. They both have to go and the idea that the GM and HC should be co-equals has to be reconsidered.
